"So what did you do when you saw them? You go off? Fight her?" Penny asks me.

I shake my head. "Nah I just left out."

"Best thing you could've did." She says.

I nod in agreement. "Go off? Hit her again? Hit him? All that shit would've did was embarrass me even more. I think I'm just gone cut him off." I conclude.

"And ya dad?"

Penny is more so a family friend. She used to be in a relationship with my uncle Tez but they broke up in their twenties. After that she stayed away. She has a history with Dani and Kades too. Truth be told he used to be like a father to her. But that's a story she never touched.

I ignore her question looking over at a lighter complexioned man that's laying completely still attached to a built in hospital bed. Plugs, a breathing machine and IV hooked into him. "Who's that?"

"Him? That's what happens when you fuck with Dani and Kades." She says to herself more than me.

My mouth drops. "They did that?" I ask in disbelief.

"That's my brother Cash," she says with sadness in his voice. "Biggest mistake he made was being in love with Danielle. I can't fully blame her because it's not her fault he couldn't leave her alone. But his love for her led him to prison, losing his baby and wife, and being in a coma for years."

I shake my head feeling her pain imagining how I'd feel if I was her. "Look I ain't saying she's a bad person or he is," she continues. "But a lot of people would've been better off if they never crossed paths with her. And Dani and Kades? Them together made things no better. He put his own son in that bed because of it."

"He wants me to set Malik up." I admit.

"You should," Penny agrees with a shrug. "Shit maybe that'll be Dani's karma for what she did to Vanni. Hell and it'll be Kades karma for what he did to Cash."

"But you just said it wasn't fully her fault-"

"But if it wasn't for her this shit wouldn't of happened," she interrupts. "See what I'm saying is it's her fault regardless."

"What about what they did to her dad-"

"She was a kid worried about grown folks business, that should've been something she let go of."

I scoff. "So why can't y'all let go of it?"

"Because her dad is at rest. Least she don't have to wake up every morning and have the reminder of what happened right in her living room." She motions to Cash.

"Regardless I ain't doing it. I'm not gone set Malik up. If my dad wants something done he better handle it himself." I speak truthfully.

Penny laughs. "I know we ain't talking about the same nigga that just cheated on you. He just cheated on you and you're protecting him."

"Okay and? Shit I find it so funny how you," I motion to her. "My dad, Tez, Angel, y'all all want ME to kill this man but don't none of y'all have the guts to do it. You know why? Cause y'all all scared of Dani and Kades. That's the reason. And y'all clearly don't care about me so y'all trynna set me up for failure too." My words cause her to go silent because she knows I'm right. I stand up looking down at her.
