Before sorting ceremony I was getting really nervous. I think everyone noticed that because twins started to do stupid stuff just to try and cheer me up. It worked a little bit, but I really didn't want to be sorted in Slytherin. Ron said everyone went bad in Slytherin.
'It's okay, calm down. Hopefully you will be sorted into Gryfindor and you will live with us.' Said Hermione, it felt like she read my mind. I give her a small smile and nod 'I would really like that.'
I joined first year students as professor McGonagall explained rules about sorting into houses. 'The start-of-term banquet will begin shortly, but before you take your seats in the Great Hall, you will be sorted into your houses. The Sorting is a very important ceremony because, while you are here, your house will be something like your family within Hogwarts. You will have classes with the rest of your house, sleep in your house dormitory and spend free time in your house common room.' she told us, stoped for a second an continued. 'The four houses are called Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin. Each house has its own noble history and each has produced outstanding witches and wizards. While you are at Hogwarts, your triumphs will earn your house points, while any rule-breaking will lose house points. At the end of the year, the house with the most points is awarded the House Cup, a great honour. I hope each of you will be a credit to whichever house becomes yours.' we all listened carefully and followed her into the dining hall. It was very beautiful, ceiling was full of the stars and candels, four long tables with students whispering about us.
Headmaster Dumbledore spoke up and talked about rules this year and shortly after that we begun with a ceremony. I was the last one since I was the older one, so the longer I waited more nervous I got. I noticed that I'm the last one standing and my heart started to pound really fast.
'Evelyn Clarke!' said professor McGonagall. 'Come here.'
Before I walked to the chair I saw a familiar face from the teachers table. Professor Snape gave me a small smile and encouraged me to go on. I flashed him a smile back and sighed. It's okay, I said to myself as I sat on the chair and professor put a sorting hat on my head.
'Hm...tough...yes lot's of wisdom and of course very hard working student, not scared of anything...cunning as well...'' said sorting hat. ''Yes, I see...yes...Well, I shall put you in...Slytherin!''
Students from Slytherin table began clapping and yelling, but me on the other hand, I very shocked. How could it be?! I looked at the Gryffindors table as I saw more disappointed faces looking back at me. It crushed me, I wanted to be with my friends. But Hermione noticed my sad face, as she gave me thumbs up and tried to support me. 'Go on! It's okay.' she mouthed to me. I tried to be brave and positive, so I put on a happy face and stood up.
I walked towards Slytherin table but I wasn't sure where to sit, everyone looked at me and once I noticed blue piercing eyes and platinum blonde hair, I decided to sit as far as possible away from him. I totally forgot he's in the same house, that's just perfect. I will have to deal with him everyday from now on, fuck my life.
A brunette waved at me and invited me to sit next to her. I walked towards her and flashed her a smile.
'Thank you for inviting me, I'm really lost, I didn't expect to be sorted into this house!' I laughed nervously.
'It's okay, I saw that you we're getting friendly with Gryffindors and I could see you were a little disappointed. But I promise you, it's not so bad here! My name is Daisy, Daisy Desmith.'' She said and held her hand to shake.
I took it 'I hope so! Nice to meet you Daisy, I'm Evelyn Clarke. Which year are you?'
'I'm fourth, just like you! I hope we share a room, it would be nice to have a new roommate for a change!' she winked at me.
