Chapter V: Mission: Accomplished...Well, Half of itI landed in a fountain, accidentally startling a romantic couple in mid-kiss with a giant splash. The guy shouted something at me in another language and trotted off, shielding his half-drenched girlfriend. I can't say I blame them.
I was in some sort of city park square with buildings around me. A tall statue of a golden dude sitting on a stone chair was off a few meters away. A couple of tourists were walking around with a tour guide speaking in Spanish. Chilly wind blew past me, making me shiver. I was only wearing a t-shirt and a jacket and the cold wind went right through my wet clothes.
"Anthony!" a voice called. Erica came walking at me, her wolf Edheros padding beside her. "There you are!" she removed her sunglasses and clipped them on March's collar.
"W-why aren't you wet?" I asked as I carefully got off the fountain, shivering. I zipped up my jacket to see if that'll do me any good.
"Well, you weren't supposed to drop here," Erica frowned. "I just dropped on the ground a few feet from this fountain...Ah! That Lexicon Guardian!"
"Froste?"
She nodded. "The guy must've made the exit so that it dropped you in that fountain and he also made it so that I drop in..."
"D-drop where?" My teeth chattered.
Erica puffed her cheeks out and sighed. I bet she got dropped somewhere unpleasant. "Doesn't matter. Where's Felix?"
"He's probably b-biting Froste's toes off," I said, cradling myself to create some warmth.
"Biting whose whats off?" a familiar voice said. Felix came walking from behind me.
"You said you w-were going to bite Froste's toes off if he p-pushes us in."
"Oh yeah! But he didn't technically push you in. Also, I kind of leaped inside the hole. He did no pushing, boss. He did some cracking."
"That was fun!" Skye squealed. She was balancing on the top of the fountain, doing a hand-stand.
"Skye, dear, please get down from there. We don't want to freak any civilians on day one," Erica called.
Skye let out an exhasperated sigh and did an unnecessary backflip to get on the ground. She stood upright, smiled and raised a hand as if waiting for applause.
"Wow, great job. Would've been better if you broke your neck, though!" Felix said.
She gave Felix a smug smile. "I'd pretend that I didn't hear that since Sophia isn't here...yet."
There was a loud whistle. "Alright, you three!" Erica said. "We should go and head to the hotel. It's pretty cold, hm?"
"V-very," I said. My wet clothes had started to stick to my skin, making the cold much less bearable.
"Nah, I like the wind here!" Skye said. When she said that, a strong gust blew between us.
"P-please don't say that word," I said.
"I a-agree," a voice said behind us, making me and Skye leap a few steps forward. Kurt was standing there, shivering just as hard as me. He was dripping wet from head to toe. I was just drenched from toe to t-shirt.
"You two need to pay attention more to your surroundings," Erica advised. "It's not a good sign for your battle skills when someone can sneak up behind you."
"S-sneak up?" Kurt said. "I w-wasn't sneaking u-up. I just...walked."
Erica stared curiously at Kurt and shook her head. "Let's just go. You guys need a change of clothes anyway."
