Vega Lupin-Black, Age 15.
It was the night before she had to be at King's Cross Station and she and her fathers were having dinner at the burrow with the Weasley family. She would spend the night there and go with the Weasley's in the morning. This was always her favorite day of the year. Everyone was so happy and excited to go back to Hogwarts.
After dinner, Her, Fred, George, and Ginny were planning some fun pranks to pull this year. George came up with a cool idea to dye Snape's cloak pink.
"I think I might pay to see Snape in a pink cloak." Sirius interrupted their planning. "Sorry to interrupt darling, but your papa and I better be off." He placed his hand on her shoulder.
"Already?" She started to tear up. "But I don't want you to go yet." She stood from the group and wrapped her arms around Sirius's waist.
"It's only a few months, and all you have to do is owl us and we'll be on our way in no time." Remus smiled kindly at her. "We love you, Starfish." He laid a soft kiss on her head.
"I love you both." She gave them both snug hugs and walked them to the door.
"Be safe, darling." Sirius reminded her. The two men linked arms and apparated from the burrow. As she watched them disappear, her brown eyes welled with tears, threatening to spill over her cheeks.
"I will." she whispered in response.
The next morning was hectic. Mrs. Weasley had them all rushing around like chickens with their heads cut off. Fred and George hadn't even started packing even though they were leaving in an hour, and Ginny and Vega had managed to escape outside to get some fresh air.
"Are you excited to be starting fifth year?" Ginny asked trying to make small talk.
"Yes, but I'm also very nervous. I mean it's fifth year, so much happens." Vega let out a low chuckle. "At least I am just a Hufflepuff-" Just then Mrs. Weasley and the rest of the rowdy family came barging out of the house.
"Well don't just sit there, we have to leave!" Mrs. Weasley exclaimed.
As they arrived at Kings Cross Station, she got separated from her friends. She frantically looked around for Fred and George, they were quite tall so it shouldn't be a problem to find them. However, she didn't. While she was looking for the twins she wasn't looking where she was walking and tripped and fell over a boy with bright blonde hair and grey eyes.
"Oh my goodness! I'm so sorry!" She managed to sputter out. She reached out to help him up. She noticed he had a nasty bruise over his left eyebrow. "Merlin, I didn't realize I hit you that hard. Geez, I'm sorry." her face full of remorse. Her father's taught her to never hurt someone else. He shoved her hands away.
"You didn't cause that." He bit out harshly.
"Oh, thank Merlin. What happened then?" She offered him a small smile despite his rotten attitude.
"None of your business, Hufflepuff." She flinched a little bit from his harsh tone, he noticed and his face softened a little bit.
"Sorry for asking" she offered shyly, after she regained composure she added "My name is Vega Lupin-Black... What about you?" She grinned. He let out a low chuckle, he couldn't believe that she didn't know who he was.
"Draco Malfoy." That was all he said, his lip tugging upward.
"Hey! We're both named after stars!" She said excitedly.
"Technically, Draco is a constellation." He corrected. She rolled her eyes and pushed his arm playfully. He lowered his eyebrows looking at her, not believe she would actually touch him. Him, Slytherin prince.
"Minor details. What year are you, Draco Malfoy?"
"Fifth." She started laughing, he gave such short answers.
"Well, fifth-year named Draco Malfoy, after the constellation, not a star.... I'll see you around." She turned and walked away to find the Weasley twins once again. He stared at her as she walked away. He had never had a civil conversation with a Hufflepuff, he smiled a little bit and stared at the ground shaking his head.
"If it isn't the baddest Slytherin in Hogwarts, Draco Malfoy." An annoying voice came from behind him.
"If it isn't the dumbest person in Hogwarts, Theodore Nott." Draco returned. The boys shook hands. "Thank Salazar, another Slytherin, I was just forced into a conversation with a naïve Hufflepuff. Ridiculous."
"I saw you smiling as that 'naïve Hufflepuff' walked away." Theo wiggled his brows at him.
"Oh please, I was just laughing at how ignorant she was."
"Sure Draco." He patted the blonde on the back and they both stepped onto the train.
Vega joined the twins and Ginny in a small compartment. She took a seat next to George across from Ginny and Fred. Fred's mouth was full of chocolate frogs already.
"Where did you wonder off to?" Wondered Ginny.
"Oh, I bumped into a boy, and we talked for a moment." She said with a small smile on her face. Ginny wiggled her brows at her.
"Fancy that, what boy?" Ginny asked as Vega chucked about ten of Bertie Bott's every flavor beans in her mouth. She tried to swallow them so she could answer.
"He said his name was Draco Malfoy." she said as she gulped down the beans.
"Draco Malfoy?" The twins asked in unison. She looked between them slowly and nodded her head. "You talked to Draco Malfoy? Like actually had a civil conversation?" Georges eyes seemed to bug out of his big head.
"Yeah, he was... nice. Why are you all being weird about it?" Vega asked simply. Ginny shook her head wildly.
"You don't understand." she started. "Draco Malfoy doesn't have civil conversations with anyone except Notthead."
"Well, he seemed nice enough." She just shrugged. The Weasley's just rolled their eyes and changed the subject. Vega just looked out of the window. Why did they hate Draco so much? He seemed nice enough. He was a little bit snippy, but I would be too if some random witch ran into me. Maybe I can find him after the sorting ceremony and be friends with him?
The train came to a halt and the twins cheered that the long ride was finally over. She laughed at them and they all hopped of the train.
Later, she was sitting in the Hufflepuff common room when there was a knock at the door. She stood up from the yellow couch and sat her homework on the table in front of it. When she opened the door she saw the beaming faces of Fred and George.
"Oi George?" Fred acknowledged.
"Oi Fred?" George replied.
"Have you seen Vega around anywhere?"
"No, I can't say I have Freddie."
"Okay, okay." She laughed at their interaction. "What do you boys want? It's after curfew, you could get caught." Fred looked at me with disgust.
"Since when do you care about getting caught?" He asked.
"C'mon we're gonna pull a prank on Zabini and Parkinson, it's gonna be fun." George pulled on the sleeve of her olive colored sweater.
"Fine, fine, I'm coming." She followed after them as they stalked towards Slytherin Dungeon.
