4. Holidays!

I'm stoked.

I wait at the schools front gates with my suitcase in my hand, the van sitting behind me. My blue scarf is wrapped around my neck, making me feel warm as snowflakes fall onto my shoulders.

It's Boxing Day today; the start of my week holiday in the mortal world.

Scar comes out of the front doors and beams when she sees me. I can't help but wince when I see her eye a with the scar though. I did that to her. She has long, black hair and smooth, white skin. Her eyes are a blazing red and her teeth are slightly fang-shaped, but her dominant fangs are more noticeable. She holds two suitcases in her hands and she walks down the steps and stops next to me.

She smiles. "Hey Fate."

I grin. "Hey Scarlett, you ready?"

She nods.

Then, Kat stumbles out from the gates. She holds a small suitcase in her hands and she also wears a scarf around her neck. Her brown hair is covered in snowflakes and her pale, grey skin sort of fits in with the white. She walks to me and beams.

Oh, remember that she is a zombie.

"H-Hey."

"Hey Kat" I grin.

I probably look like an idiot with all the grinning I'm doing.

"Shame Fin couldn't come" says Scar with a sigh.

"But at least Gavin can come" pipes Kat.

I turn to glare at her. "What?"

Scar winces and sighs. "We invited Gavin."

I turn to her this time. "Why?"

Kat stands next to Scar. "Well, you can't just shut him out after you chose Finley over him. He's still your friend, and he knows that."

I groan and I kick some snow and it flies through the air and hits a nearby tree. "Fine."

I see Gavin then come out of the schools front doors and he smiles when he sees me, but the smile doesn't reach his ears.

This is going to be interesting.

I pile Scar's, Kat's and my suitcase into the back of the van and then I feel his presence behind me and I almost turn and hug him. Instead, I avoid eye contact and I take his suitcase off him and I place it in the back of the van with the others. I shut the boot of the van a bit too forcefully and I walk to the drivers side and I sit in the seat. Kat and Scar sit behind me and Gavin sits in the seat next to me. My pulse is racing because of his closeness but I ignore it and I turn the key, making the van purr to life. I push down on the accelerator slightly and the van glides out of the schools grounds and down the hill.

Scar breaks the silence. "So, we get to stay at the mortal world for a week. Where are we going first?"

I sigh and I turn the heater on since it's freezing in here. I sneak a glance at Gavin and he is wearing a blue parka and black snow pants with some gloves. He has stubble on his chin again and I can't help but think how cute that is.

I shake my head and I force a small smile on to my face, but it only lasts for about a second. "We are going to my place."

"Wha?" asks Scar.

"I have a place."

"How?"

I grip the steering wheel tighter and my knuckles go white.

"Doesn't matter Scar" says Gavin. "Anyway, where is this place?"

I loosen the grip on the steering wheel and I let out a big sigh. "On the side of Dolville."
