Peggy's POV

I wake up in an unfamiliar bed, bruises covering my body. I don't remember what happened, until I sit up and see James sleeping next to me. Oh right. As if being married at 18 wasn't hard enough, my fiance is horrible. *As in horrible, I mean abusive.* I can remember the night clearly as I try to move, overwhelmed with pain. "Shoot." I mumble, grabbing my clothes from the floor.

*"C'mere baby girl..." James's words slurred together. I could smell alcohol on his breath. I knew I was supposed to stay here for the night but I was not okay with this.

"N - no..." I stammered, backing way.

"I said...c'mere" He grabbed me by the waist.

"S - stop! Help -" I tried to scream but he covered my mouth and dragged me away...*

I slid into my clothes, tears starting to fall down my face.

"You can't tell anyone about this..." I hear James's half - asleep voice say.

"F - fine..." My stutter's back. I had it for a while when I was a kid and managed to get over it, but I guess now...I guess my hard work all went down the garbage. John. I want to talk to John.

"Hey...you're up early..." I mumble, entering the kitchen to see John sitting there. The clock says it's 5:00 a.m.

"So are you!" He retorts quickly, like I triggered something.

"Sorry!" I snap, sitting down next to him. Maybe this was a bad idea...

"No, no, It's ok. Sorry, really, I'm sorry." Then again, maybe he's exactly what I need.

"So, how was last night?" John asks suddenly. I feel my face get hot. I can't - I can't lie to him. But I have to, what will James do if I don't?

"It was g - great..." My words are quiet and unsure, but John doesn't seem to notice. Good.

"Great! James is really amazing. He's a great brother, and I assume fiance, too!"

"Yeah, sure..." I say sarcastically to myself. "He's awesome."

"What?" John asks.

"N - nothing!" I say quickly. Stupid Peggy. Why would I say that? "He's really..." I swallow my words and come up with new ones. Better ones. "Great. He's really great." John doesn't seem convinced, but nods slowly and turns away from me. Wow, nice going Peggy. Day one and someone's already suspicious. He's probably considering asking me what happened later, or what's wrong with me. He's probably thinking "Something weird is happening with this crazy girl I need to question her"

John's POV

I kinda want waffles. But it's like 5:30 a.m and the waffle maker would be too loud...so no waffled. Well...I could have waffles and just wake everybody up. But then they'd be mad at me. Eh. It's worth it for waffles. I turn back towards Peggy and notice something's up. She looks tired...just another reason for waffles!

After 30 minutes everyone is down - stairs angry at me for making so much noise. But as I expected, they cheered up when I put a nice, hot, steaming plate of waffles in front of them. Waffles make everything better. Except Peggy. She just stares at her food. She picks up her fork, but James whispers something in her ear and she sets it back down. Weird...eh, it's nothing.

The rest of the morning goes by like this. James whispering stuff to Peggy, Peggy looking tired, scared, and stopping whatever she's doing. She's probably just confused. I mean, she has this whole wedding thing coming up, who knows what that girl's thinking about. Probably James. James and how he's such a great fiance.
