"Addi, get your butt down here or you are going to be late for school!" Calls my ever demanding father. I groan loudly and hop (more like flop) off my bed and into my closet to get dressed. Another day at school, ugh. One fact about me and my family, school is hard for me when you are the daughter of two people who saved the world from evil when they were my age. Everybody asks me way too many questions and I get bombarded with squeals and people longing to be my friend in school hallways and it is all just too much for my 16 year old self. I am introverted, I don't need or want everyone to be my friend, I just want to have a few good friends and everyone else just leave me be. So when random strangers come up to me and ask for me to get them an autograph from my parents, the glorious Finn and Amanda Whitman, it gets me all too frustrated. I love my parents to death, don't get me wrong, I just didn't ask to be born into a famous family and be the only child with no siblings to share my bustling life with. We are constantly traveling everywhere for my parents to accept awards or go to the grand opening of a new ride here in Orlando, Florida and whatever else we need to do. My parents love it and to most kids, this life would be a dream. Not for me. I practically live in the shadow of my parents, I am never noticed by people. I can't tell you how many times I have had a friend over to my house who only came over to spend time with my parents, not me. Sad? I know, but when it happens every single day of your life, you get over it and realize that you won't really ever amount to someone better than your parents are and that is just the way it is going to be. Yes, my parents try to teach me good life lessons as all parents would. You will do great things in life or You are unique and special, but do I really believe those words? Do they? Not a chance.

"Addi!" Dad calls once more, 10 minutes later.

"I'm coming!" I hustle down the stairs, don't want dad to get too mad at me, that is never a good sign.

"Breakfast is on the table." Dad said, pointing to a soggy bowl of cereal. Yeah, no thank you.

"Thanks Dad. But I am not hungry." I grab my backpack with my car keys and swiftly head out to drive to school, I get stopped by dad.

"What? No, goodbye hug or 'I love you Dad' on your way out?" He says with a smile. I roll my eyes and groan sarcastically but soon enough, my body is effortlessly slumped in his arms.

He kisses my forehead. "Now you have a good day at school sweetheart." Oh no, not the name calling. I hate it when he gets all sappy with the names he calls me. Sweetie, pumpkin, honey, all of them. I gotta admit though, it is pretty funny.

I pull out of the driveway and get on my way to school, turning on the radio to 90's country. A lot of people think that my style would be more pop or rock'n'roll, nope, I love 90's country, it is the best! It really calms me when I am stressed out or mad, which for the record, does happen a lot.

When I arrive in the school parking lot, I get out and find my two best friends (also my only friends) waiting for me outside the front doors.

"And she finally arrives!" Bryce announces as he brushes his dirty blonde hair out of the way of his chocolate brown eyes.

"Where have you been, missy?" Brielle, Bryce's identical twin sister questioned, hands on her hips.

"Sorry guys, I got a little side tracked at home." I apologize. The two of them shrug and brush it off, they know me, Miss Always Late. Although as my loyal friends, they always wait up for me and refuse to go anywhere until I arrive, even if I am an hour late. And that is the truth, trust me, it's happened before. The three of us head through the double doors of the school building and into the chaotic frenzy of people crowding me. "Can I be your best friend?" "Can I have your parents autograph?" "Sit with me at lunch today?" All of these questions echo throughout the halls and my mind as people run up to me, I just want to huddle up into a ball and lay on the ground in peaceful quietness.

"Alright people, back up! Out of the way!" Shouts Brielle. Thank goodness for her outspoken self to get me out of this mess. It is times like this when I am so glad at least one of us is an extrovert and can speak up. Bryce is a shy introvert like me, we cower away in the background as Brielle does all of the talking and standing up for us. Brielle shoves a few students to make a walking path, but for the most part, everybody moves away and scurries from Brielle. Brielle is notorious for her voice, she can make the most feared bullies whimper in fear at just one sentence, nobody messes with her. Another great reason to have her as a bestie.

Bryce, Brielle and I all have the same first period class, so we head there together. As we split up to go to our designated seats, we agreed to meet up at lunch at the usual table in the corner of the cafeteria, where no one could spot me and everyone would not try to sit with me at once.

                                                                                            ***

Scooping a spoonful of the cafeteria's weird tasting chilli (I don't really think it is food, more or less edible), I head over to Bryce and Brielle who are already sitting down, waiting for me.

"So, how is school so far?" I ask, starting a conversation.

"Eh, I got an A-minus on my AP English test today. I swear, Mrs. Smith is out to get me." Bryce says. Oh yes, Bryce is the nerd of the group. He has a 4.5 GPA and is the smartest kid in school, he is also Valedictorian. But, being the smartest kid at school also has its downsides, Bryce is also one of the most bullied kids at our school. Speaking of which, here comes a bully right now. James Hudson.

"What's up weirdos? Hey nerd boy, I need your help with homework." The idiot, no-brained boy says to Bryce.

"Back off James." Brielle says, standing up and deathly glaring at him. The twins always have each other's back as they have mine, if someone messes with Bryce, they are going to be in for a not-so-nice revenge, and same if it was the other way around. The two always have my back as well, no matter what. We are closer than close, we have been best friends ever since kindergarten, we know everything there is to know about each other and hide no secrets.

"I ain't doing anything to harm him, princess. Just asking for help." James responded.

"Don't call me that." Brielle said through gritted teeth, now on guard, awaiting her chance to attack.

"So, you think you can help me, smart guy?" James asked, now addressing Bryce again.

"Well, I... uhh... I have a lot of homework to get done as well... maybe some other time... ummm..." Bryce said, putting his hands up in defense.

"I said, can you help me?" James said, now more eagerly. "That isn't a question, that is a statement. You better help."

By now, Brielle was standing in front of Bryce, protecting him and about 2 seconds away from attacking James.

"I said back off. Don't you have other high schoolers to torment. Leave my brother alone!" Brielle said angrily.

James sighed. "Whatever you wish, your majesty." He said with a little bow and then walked away.

"Thanks Bri." Bryce said, blushing a bit that he couldn't stand up for himself.

"No problem. We really need to work on your people skills and self-defense though, not gonna lie." We all laughed and the bell rang as we headed to our next classes.

I drove home from school and when I walked into the house, I quickly headed up to my bedroom. My parents love to have full on conversations about how school went, but I don't really want to nor do I have time for that. I close the door and start working on my homework. Soon enough, as predicted, Mom knocks on the door and walks in.

"Hey honey. Dad and I were thinking we could all go out to dinner tonight. What do you think?" Not lifting my eyes up from Advanced Geometry homework, I respond.

"No thanks. Sorry, lots of homework."

"I see." Even though I cannot see mom's face, I can tell she is frowning. I know, I do feel bad sometimes for always ditching my parents like this, but what is the point in going out as a family if it turns into a public event for fans to come and get autographs? Not my idea of spending time as a family.

"Well, hope you get done soon. Love you." Mom says.

"Uh-huh, love you too." I hear the door close and I let out a breath. Sorry mom, but not today.
