My name is Emery, and I knew I was different. I always have. Even my parents knew. But it wasn't so out of the ordinary for them. You see, my parents are Tony Stark and Pepper Potts. Yes, Ironman and the CEO of Stark Industries themselves. They adopted me at young age. I don't really know why they chose me to adopt - I was too young to remember. I guess I got lucky - especially since they were already fairly used to more... talented... people.
I guess you want to know why I am 'talented'? Well, I was born with powers. These powers give me the ability to manipulate electricity. No one knows how I acquired my powers, my parents believe that I have had them since the day I was born. They didn't want many people to know about me, even before they realised that I was special. I guess they wanted me to have a more private life - especially compared to them. They wanted me to have a 'normal' life - I don't know how 'normal' your life can be when your parents are some of the most famous people in the country. And especially since I have these abilities, only a select number of people know of me and my parentage. And it was going to stay like that - at least until I was older and ready to tell the world about myself.
But that's enough about me for now.

Emery sat, reading a book, next to the large windows of her room that gave her an amazing view overlooking New York. Her whole life had been spent in this tower. It's not that she didn't like it, it could just get a bit boring sometimes - especially when most of the others were out of missions and stuff. She sighed and put down her book on the small table next to her. There was something that she really wanted to ask her dad. Emery had been thinking about it for ages. She decided that she should go ask him now.
She stood up and walked out of her room, shutting the door behind her. Emery thought that Tony was probably in his lab so she started to walk down the hallway towards it. As she walked down the hallway, she heard a shuffle from above. Emery knew exactly what that was.
"Clint, I know you are there," she chuckled. She heard a sigh from above and then a creak of metal and Clint jumped down in front of her. He was one of the only ones that was actually not on a mission at the moment.
"How'd you know I was there?"
"I think that I have been here long enough to know when you are in the vents. Also, you are very loud up there."
"Hey! I'm not that loud!" he said, practically yelling and being a complete hypocrite. Emery gave him a look that said 'you sure?' and he sighed. She chuckled and he joined in. "Alright, alright. I guess I might have to add some soundproofing to those vents."
"Good idea. Anyways, I need to ask Dad something. See you later."
"Alright then. I have some stuff to do now anyways," Clint smiled and Emery smiled back. He ruffled my brown wavy hair and she started to walk down the hallway again, giving him a little wave as she walked past him.
Emery reached the door to Dad's lab and entered. It was quite spacious, with many different projects happening at the same time. She looked around and saw him sat at one of the tables, closely focused on something.
"Hey Emery," he said without looking up.
"Hey Dad," she replied, walking over to his workbench. "Whatchya up to?"
"I'm just trying to improve my suit. You need anything?"
Emery grabbed a spare chair from nearby and sat down next to him. "Yeah. Can I ask you something?"
"Sure," Dad set down his tools and shifted his attention to me. "What's up?"
"Well, I've been thinking about it for a while now and I was wondering... if you would let me go to a normal school?" I took a breath then looked up at Dad, who acknowledged my question. "I just feel like that I could learn better at an actual school and also I could have a bit more of a normal teenage life, instead of spending all my time cooped up in the tower."
"Are you sure that you want to go to a proper school?"
"Yes Dad, I am."
"Alright then."
"But I thou- wait what?" Tony did not usually agree to things so easily, and Emery was a bit surprised at how quickly he did.
"I think that you are probably old enough now to make some decisions on your own. Anyways, your mother keeps saying that I can't keep you in the tower forever," he chuckled at that last part.
"So you've already talked about this with Mom?"
"Yep. We came to the agreement that you should start to have more independence, especially now you are able to control your power. So, I can probably get you a place to start next week. Sound good?"
"Yes, Dad! Sounds great!" Emery jumped into his arms and gave him a big hug. "Thank you so so so much!"
Dad chuckled. "Alright, I'll get your mother to sort some stuff out then."
She stood up and gave him a big smile. "Thank you! I'm going to go sort some stuff out then!"
Dad smiled at her and she sent a grin back. Emery skipped out of the lab and back down to her room. Once she entered, she flopped down on her bed. I cant believe that Dad is actually letting me go to a proper school! It's gonna feel so weird .
Emery sat back up on my bed, the excitement welling up inside of her. Pepper would probably come talk to her about it later and help get all of the supplies she would need ready. She sighed and stared out of her window, imagining what her life would be like when she could start living a more 'normal' teenage life.
