We're walking to the principal's office quietly. We argued a bit while leaving the room but now we're just tired of even talking to each other. "I swear if we get detention again..." I say, rolling my eyes. "It'd be yo fault." Cam says, trailing behind me a bit. "Me?" I say, turning to him. "If you would've just got up and moved, we wouldn't've been kicked out." I finish, continuing walking. He scoffs. "Nah that's on you. Also you could've just shut up after I moved. Always gotta be a smart ass." He mumbled the last part. I rolled my eyes at him and continued walking, not wanting the principal to hear us since we were approaching her office.
We walk into the principal's office and sit in the seats at her desk. "Ah, no surprise here." Mrs. Kingston says. "So, what are we in trouble for this time?" We both start telling her at the same time, and she's obviously confused at what we're saying. "One at a time please." She says, talking over us. "He's so annoying, that's why!" I say. "Okay, Mrs. K, I'm not in the mood for her bullshit today. I had a long night and the last thing I wanna do, is hear her mouth." He says to her. I take a deep breath and give her a look that says I'm about to hurt him.
"Okay you two, you have got to stop. This is constantly a problem." She says. "And yet, we still get put in the same classes and shit." Cam said, making a face like she's dumb. Mrs. K gives him a look. I mean he's not wrong. Why constantly complain that we're arguing, yet continue to put us together? "I mean, no disrespect, but it just doesn't make sense. Obviously we can't fix it ourselves so y'all might as well separate us. Common sense." He said, mumbling the last part."Or you two could act your age and stop arguing about every little thing?" Mrs. K responded.
Me and Cam look at each other then turn back to her. "Nah." We both say. She rolls her eyes and rubs her temples."Okay look, this is your last strike. Next time you're sent to me for arguing, we're going to talk about suspension." She said. "What the hell? Suspension for what?" Cam said. "Yea I don't think you can suspend us just for arguing." I add. "We can for constant disruption. For disrespecting authority and not listening. For foul language." She says, looking at Cam at the last part. "So that means bye bye scholarships," she says to me. "And bye bye sports." She says to Cam. He kisses his teeth and looks to the side.
I can't believe she's actually threatening to suspend us for something that she can control. Just move us out of the same classes, the fuck? "Now am I clear?" She asks. "Yes ma'am." I say. "Whatever." Cam says at the same time, both obviously annoyed. She dismisses us and we leave her office. There's only 5 minutes left of class so what's the point of going.
"I hate this dumbass school." Cam says as we walk into the hallway. I agree with him. "We have to really avoid each other now. I can't get suspended." I say. "I try to avoid you as much as I can already. Problem is, can you actually keep yourself away from me?" Cam says, smirking. I roll my eyes. "Yea you wish. You're the last person I wanna see everyday." I respond. He chuckles. "Sure." He says. I guess we both mentally decided we're not going back to class because we're both heading to our next class, which we have together. Yay.
