Hanging up the phone was when Sans had finally realized how livid he was. Lucky for him, he was able to spot a certain goat monster chatting with the King. Sans stormed over to the grill and tapped Toriel's shoulder. The mother looked surprised to see Sans and gave him a weak smile. Knowing very well that the sour look on the skeleton's face was somehow connected to her.

"Sans! You made it!" She falsely beamed, hoping her enthusiasm would lighten his mood up. But she gulped, aware that it was going to take a lot more than that to make him happy again.

Toriel was beginning to crumble under the skeleton's stare. "We needa talk." Sans sharply spoke. Toriel sighed in defeat, slouching her shoulders, who was she kidding? She could never fool him. "Very well." Toriel puts out her hand, assuming he wishes to talk in private. Sans takes her overly sized paw and teleports them outside the front of the house. It was calmer out here, not better, just a lot less noisy.

Toriel's driveway and street was filled with cars. Sans wanted to make a comment about it but wanted to get straight to the point instead.

"Why didn't you tell me (Y/n) was going to be here??" Sans asked, his smile now forced into a tugged frown. Toriel was taken aback. "What? I sent you a message about it!" She claims, crossing her arms. Sans pulls out his phone. There was no messages, Sans flashes this to Toriel who proceeds to roll her crimson red eyes pulling out her own phone to prove her innocence.

"Well that's not right at all!" She clicks through her phone, "I sent you a message, I know I certainly did! I--!" Toriel silences herself for a second before giving Sans a forced laugh. "oh, heh, would you look at that.? I forgot to press send..." She says out loud, a warm red tinting her fur.

Poker faced, Sans rubs his temples in frustration. Sans knew Toriel didn't mean harm but he wasn't sure what to do. Sans scolded himself for promising Papyrus he'd stay at the party. He was starting to remember why he doesn't make promises, nothing ever works out in his favor. Toriel sighed placing a large paw on the skeleton's shoulder.

"Sans, I understand how you feel, its been years since you two have last spoken to each other but times have changed..!" She hopefully said, "Maybe you should look at this moment as an opportunity to become friends again." Toriel's eyes were practically sparkling with hope.

Sans had to look away, once again avoiding eye contact. "It's--It's not that easy Tori, I--" Sans kept pausing, unsure of how to express his true feelings about the situation.

Of course he wanted to be your friend, the monster yearned to be one of your greatest friend. He desperately wanted to heal their broken past, but... How was he supposed to move on from the past if you were a constant reminder of it? Sans was beginning to criticize himself for even going to see you in the first place.

Sans wanted to like you, to be remarkable friends with you again, but he also needed to stay away from you, to hate you before he did something irrational...

"Please, just go and speak to her, I'm sure she'd be more than happy to finally see you." Toriel begged. Sans couldn't look away from those motherly eyes of hers, so bright and red, it was almost hypnotizing at times. Sans once again averted his eyes, unable to withstand the guilt he felt.

"We... kind of already spoke to each other." Sans admits, his voice holding what Toriel had to guessed as shame. Her eyes lit up from shock. "What!? You knew she was in town this whole time and you never considered telling me?" Toriel shouts, feeling extremely upset.

Sans shushes her, in fear that someone would hear them talking about you. Sans tensely shrugs "I don't know, I-- it was an accident the first time I saw her." He confessed.
