Toriel liked you, you were one of the only humans the monster could trust. Though that trust had been built five years ago, and that young passionate human she once knew could be someone entirely different now. Needless to say, Toriel still liked you. It just struck her as odd to bump into you while running errands, what were the odds of that? Toriel also laughed at the fact that Frisk had invited you to their small party. The universe must know what it's doing.
Toriel becomes lost in her thoughts, while she's setting the party up. She was adding a few balloons to tables outside, adding small touches that'll make her feel like the party is truly complete. Toriel would become distracted now and again while thinking of you. She helplessly worried that something may go wrong...
And it's not that Toriel didn't want you to come; she was just afraid trouble would be caused if she doesn't say something to Sans about your sudden invitation. Maybe you two won't see each other? There were going to be a large number of kids and monsters attending this little party, perhaps you'll completely miss him? Toriel pondered a silly idea, what if she just made you and Sans avoid each other? The mother shook her head, softly chucking at the idea. As the goat mother prepared the party she looked down at her wrist, the watch she was wearing mocking her with time.
The party should be starting in an hour.
"Ah! The pies! I almost forgot to put out the pies!" She says to herself, rushing off into the house and hurriedly into the kitchen. Toriel's house was very warm from all of the baking she did, the kind mother always left a sweet and almost unidentifiable smell in her home. It was quite nostalgic actually.
Any person could walk in and immediately know a caring older woman lived here. And although she was quite old she still tried to stay "hip" for Frisk. As much as it embarrassed Frisk and cracked up Sans Frisk was at least happy she had someone to laugh at her questionable jokes.
Toriel happily hummed, pulling the pies out from the oven and brought them to the table outside. She's been so busy baking all day that she hadn't even realized how beautiful the sky looked today. She inhaled the fresh air, enjoying the sun's rays. The party was looking so good, Toriel looked at the table that was filled to the brim of food she had proudly made.
She began to wonder if she had overdone it? People were going to bring more food, on top of that, her sorry excuse of an ex-husband was going to grill out some foods that the humans would be comfortable with. As Toriel organized the table in careful thought, she felt a tug on her white spring dress.
She looked down, her caring red eyes landing upon her beloved child; Frisk. Toriel gave them the warmest smile, she couldn't help but adore her child. They have grown so much since the barrier was broken, they had even cut their hair, making them look unrecognizable at times. Frisk held a look of curiosity and that made their mother worry.
"Yes, my dear child?" She questioned, looking down.
"She seems nice." They say without warning. Toriel tenses up, knowing instantly who they were talking about. "I- Well Uhm, yes, yes she is." Toriel shyly admits. Frisk immediately takes notes over their mother's behavior.
Why was their mother acting so weird? Was there something they didn't know? Clearly, "Then why aren't Dunkle and her friends anymore?" Frisk was only trying to put bits and pieces together, they didn't quite understand their stupidly mysterious history together.
All they know is that at one point Sans was involved with a human named "(Y/n)" and obviously something happened in between the midst of their friendship for it to be awkward. Frisk at one point in time has heard that name, Sans even talked about this human to the point that everyone had wondered if he'd found his partner. But that was years ago...
