Phoenix

Prologue

As the rain starts to fell so hard as if it understands the atmosphere in where am I right now, I shiver because of coldness and fear.

Fear of what in front of me right now.
A cold wind blow that urge my tears to come out.

We're hiding inside of Big trashbin with small hole for us to Peek from inside to outside. We're hiding to hide our identity and for our safety.

"Atleast you found the truth in the end, detective." my father is kneeling on the ground while his both hands tied in his back. His white long sleeves is covered with blood. And his face is covered with dirt.

A man in the white suit burst out with laughter as if his words is enough to make him laugh.

The man in the white suit is in the middle standing infront of dad, and the girl whom I think his wife is standing beside him, while countess man with black suit standing in side.

I gritted my teeth. Why am I here again? Why am i watching my dad's last minutes? Why I can't do anything but to watch?

I took a deep breath and about to stood up and join dad's last minute when someone grab my wrists. I look at uncle with a furious eyes.

"Where do you think you're going? Are you planning to save him and die with your father? Are you out of your mind?" his grip in my wrists got tighter.

"What if I am?" i glare at his furious eyes. He is dad's friend, I know he understand the situation more than I do, but why can't he do anything to save him?

"I knew you would be stubborn, little kid. But do you think he will like it if you put yourself in danger just to save him? And do you think I have in position to stop them? Even through im in military, I can't do anything against them, and this is their territory, they can kill us." I forcefully Pull wrists in his grip and remain silent. The annoying fact hit me.

"Let me introduce you to my son, yuki phoenix." the man in the suit said and a boy who's about in my age shows up. He's eyes is peaceful despite of what he's seeing right now. He's face is pale and doesn't have any emotions. He is like robot because of his coldness. His hair is messy and his clothes is wet because of rain.

I gasped, could he be...

"Ethan Hayate In the past and yuki phoenix right now and in the future." a woman said with smile on her face.

My mind stopped and i gasped. Ethan Hayate. He is missing and dad hold his case. Could it be, phoenix get him? And turned him into yuki phoenix?

I can't belive it, I saw his pictures when I sneak in dad's office. He is innocent and happy. But who's this now? Who is in front of me with a dead eyes and cold emotions? He looks like miserable and brainwash, or perhaps they remove his memory? It isn't him! It isn't Ethan Hayate.

Because it's yuki phoenix now.

Dad is startled as well, he can't believe that a boy infront of him is the one he's searching for months.

"What did you do to him?" dad asks with a furious eyes. A woman just smile and answer.

"We turned him into phoenix, isn't that great? Phoenix have a promising future because of him." she pinched his cheeks but he remained expression less.

"Did you brainwashed him? Or perhaps, do you remove his memory?"

"Oh my! You're so harsh Mr. Detective."

"Give him back in his real parents. You aren't his real family and will never be." The woman blink for a second.

"How dare you mr. detective! You know nothing about us!" a woman suddenly raise her voice.

A man raise his hands for a signal and many man in the suit come out. One of them holds a suit case and open it infront of a man who's intruduce yuki phoenix.

"Yuki my beloved son, I had a gift to give you." the one who holds suitcase step aside and yuki phoenix hands slide inside the suitcase.

My eyes widened when I saw what gift is he talking about. Its a gun! I shiver, could it be...

Someone pat my head from the back to calm me down while my tears keep coming out. No, I hope he's not planning to shot my dad. Looking at my father's awful situation make me wants to jump in and save him.

"Thanks father...... ." he said with a dark smile. Dad watch the situation hopelessly as if he accepted his faith.

"So are you planning to use that to him? Try it out." a woman ask with a innocent smile, she annoys me, her smile annoys me. How can she smile in this situation?

He nodded that make my world ruin. Curse him! I will save dad.

"Kill me." all of us stopped for a moment. Dad made my soul left my body for a second.

"What a nice joke, detective." a man in suit once again burst out with laughter. What the heck is dad talking about?

"Fvcking kill me now and don't lay a hand in my family." dad said and he look at my direction. I was shock when he smile at me, yes he smile at me, at my direction.

So he knew all along? He knew I was here with uncle? My tears slowly drop from my eyes. How can he...

How can he think about me and mom in this situation? He's indanger and yet he's worried about us.

"That's the spirit, detective!"

I was about to go in dad's direction when someone...

"Don't." a voice from my back rang out. I clenched my fist. Is he saying I have to accept dad's death? I look around and saw many bodyguards and man in the suit, they are all wet because of the rain.

I lower my head, now I understand why uncle stopped me to do something stupid. He can't handle those guys, there are many of them and they have gun.

Yuki phoenix stand infront of dad and point a gun in his head. All I can do is to cry in silent. How dare them hurt my dad! I can't come out in my hideout. If they found out, we're dead too.

"I guess he's not worth killing." yuki said with an emotionless face and fire the gun in the sky.

"Killing an old man won't satisfy me."

My tears stop for a while. Is this for real? Does he meant he's not killing my father anymore?

They were confused but doesn't dare to say any word. And dad reamaind silent while hopelessly looking at him. He looks like disappointed instead relieve.

My heart jump when yuki look at my direction. I'm well aware we are safe here. But..

A cold wind blow as yuki phoenix eyes and I are met. I can't move, I can't say any word, I can't blink. He's emotionless eyes lock me up. Did he just find our hideout?

"Uncle.."

He smile. An innocent smile. A smile that Ethan hayate has. Before i could think more, a gun shot sound startled us. Before I knew it, uncle covered my eyes.

Did-
Did he shot dad while smiling at me? I want to scream, cry hard, and hug dad one last time. I want to push uncle aside. But most important, I want to kill yuki phoenix.

I forcefully remove uncle's hand in my eyes. And then I saw dad's dead body lying in the ground, covered with blood. It feels like my heart broke into pieces. I don't want to go home without dad, I want to get scold by my mother because I play detective thingy with my dad. I want to get punish with dad by mom. I want dad to take care of me when mom is away. I want dad.

But why? Why does he have to die?

I saw yuki's back walking away. And i saw his dark smirk. He didn't kill us but he kill dad! Damn you yuki.

I swear in the name of dad, i will take revenge on phoenix.
