TREES ROLLED BY as Abram chattered on, lecturing us about the academy. Nick was on his phone, not even trying to look attentive, while Tasi stared out the window. I sat in the middle of the car with my legs tightly pressed together.

They made me wear a skirt. Cue the internal screaming.

Abram had insisted on it since it was part of the school uniform, but I still felt uncomfortable. Mad uncomfortable. Mostly about the skirt, but the uniform was weird too. The black cardigan and blouse, the yellow tie, the damn plaid skirt. I felt like a bumblebee.

A rich bumblebee.

Tasi and Nick wore uniforms, too. Tasi's was bee-themed, much like mine, while Nick's had firey-orange trimmings. He had an orange tie instead of our yellow. Also, they had pants. Not skirts. Just to be clear.

"Miss, Young Masters, are you all paying attention? We'll be reaching the academy soon enough, so I do hope you've taken what I've said to heart." I looked up at Abram. Sure enough, we were nearing a gated road. A neat metal sign sat next to the gate as we passed.

Kowalski's Academy for Boys & Girls.

"This is just a normal day for us, remember? The only one who needs help is her." Nick pointed a thumb in my direction.

Honestly, all I could think about was the name. Penguins flashed through my mind.

We pulled up to the school and I snickered, muttering two simple words.

"Kowalski, analysis..!" Nick's head snapped up.

"See, Tasi?! I'm not the only one!" He pointed at me excitedly, staring at my twin as he got out of the car. I slid out of the car with him, grabbing my book bag and laughing.

"I can't believe I'm going to a school called Kowalski. That's fucking hilarious!" I shut the door behind me before looking over at Tasi. He was making a face, cutting his hand harshly across his neck. Someone clicked their tongue.

"Welcome, I suppose." Thin, red lips spoke bitterly. I raised my head. It was an old lady, graying hair in a tight bun, with a wrinkled forehead due to her currently tight-knit brows. She was unbelievably tall, and something told me she could beat Vasi in a fight.

"Oh, uh, thank you, Mrs..?"

"Kowalski."

Fuck.

"I would give you a tour of the academy, however, there are more important things to do. Here is your schedule." Her bony fingers produced a slip of paper. I took it awkwardly, the old lady then walking back to the school's entrance, leaving as quickly as she'd arrived.

"...that was the headmaster." I looked back at Tasi. He was pinching the bridge of his nose, eyes shut and brows furrowed. I let out a nervous laugh.

"I probably won't see her that much, then!" I avoided his doubtful gaze and fumbled with my schedule, unfolding it to see a chart.
