The pc dimmed to its usual champagne glow. After hours of bright colors and reckless gameplay Kate finally closed out of Minecraft. She looked down at the little numbers at the bottom of her screen.

2:00 am

She tilted her head backward.

Its 2 am already?

She felt like she had just gotten on. She gently pressed the power button on her monitor. The bright, vibrant blue changed to a dull gray. She stood up from her soft pink chair slowly and walked to plop down on her bed in dissatisfaction. She looked out of her bedside window. The street lights looked to be covered by a smoke screen. The deep purple flowers by her road entrance stood brightly in front of the night. She needed to remove her makeup. The thick  eyeliner would smear on her sheets if she didn't.

She pushed her self up reluctantly knocking some of the many stuffed animals that resided on her bed to the floor. She stumbled over to her white vanity to grab the micellar water and the cotton rounds. She began to reluctantly wipe off her eyeliner and glittery lips. She looked down to the cotton rounds on the vanity. With her eyes glued to the floor she walked back to her bed. Though exhausted from hours on call with three boys she picked up her phone.

The light from her phone blinded her. She opened snapchat to find all three of them from her friend, Josh. Despite being on call with him and three others all night she couldn't resist the urge to send a picture back. She snapped a pic of her wall, covered in old records and led light panels.  You could just barely see the tip of her black hair.

Nearly second later a red square popped up by Josh's name.

"VC 3"  it read.

Kate was so tired. She had spent all day talking to Josh and her other friends, Collin and Aaron. Despite all three screaming over each other on every call she could only hear the soft carry in Josh's voice. Every time he spoke her stomach was filled with the monarch migration. She had been friends with all the boys on the Discord server for years. Josh was practically her best friend.

She clicked on the light purple discord icon on her phone. Discord automatically showed her the voice channels for the gang's server. Everyone on at the time was in general. After a few seconds she saw Josh's neon colored profile picture switch to VC 3. She joined.

Cat?

Hi Josh.

You sound so tired.

Well I am. I have been on since eleven today.

I know. I was there.

Are you still playing?

They switched to CS:GO and I decided I would rather talk to you instead.

--A knot welled up in her throat.--

Sorry if it's hard to hear me. My voice gets really soft when I'm tired.

I like it better this way anyway.

--Kate's heart started to beat out of her chest.--

I know you're tired Cat, but can you stay on a bit longer?

Of course I can but I can't promise I won't fall asleep.

That's fine if you do. Just means I make you relaxed.
