I was looking out my bedroom window in a daze while my maths teacher was talking on the zoom class in the background. My thoughts weren't with academics, in my head, I was far away in la on sunset strip at a guns n roses gig. I had thought my senior year would entail a bit more excitement than zoom classes and quarantine but here I am and there's nothing I can do about it.

"So if "i" squared equals minus one whats the answer, erm.... Anastasia, what's the answer?,"

I looked at my laptop with a blank expression, camera and mic off. What was the point of school anyway I've already planned my career as a waitress in a strip club and then get lucky with the stock market. Instead of unmuting myself, I left the class. I got up from my desk and put on my coat to go for a walk.

I live in the countryside so I wonder around the hills and forests surrounding my house a lot. There was an old wives tale about a tree deep in the woods with branches that had grown into gateway shape you could walk through, and if you did, it would take you wherever you wanted to go. Unfortunately such things did not exist, however, today I'm feeling particularly fed up with my current life so I went looking for it.

After walking for what felt like hours I found myself stood in front of tree just as described with branches that had grown into a gateway. It was only a story so what was the harm in giving it a go. I closed my eyes and in my mind I pictured the sunset strip at golden hour just before it started getting flooded with people going to the various clubs.

I took a step forward and felt warm air surround me like I was wrapped in a blanket, and I heard people laughing a chatting with muffled music in the background. As I opened her eyes I saw the sunset strip. My outfit had changed to leather lace up pants and a white tight crop top. Behind me was just more of the street, the portal was nowhere in sight, I was stuck. A flyer on the lamppost next to me said some random bands name at the cathouse on august 4th 1985.

Holy shit, she made it. I was stuck here, but I made it. No more lockdown or high school or shitty parents and fake friends, I was free.
