Return Of The Bad Omen

Once again: another lesson, another day wasted on useless historical events I could summarize off the top of my head. The history teacher, whatever his name was, began spouting off in different directions before settling for answers to his questions. Whilst he reprimanded Bonnie, attempted to push forward Matt and berated Elena for not knowing the answers, I had decided enough was enough of his bullying tactics.

"There were three-hundred-and-forty-six casualties. Unless you're also counting local civilians." I butt in, stopping Mr Tanner's pointless grumbling about Elena's lack of in-town history.
  "That's correct. Miss..." he pauses,
"Salvatore." I reply sharply, my back straight against the awful plastic chairs that this school had to offer.
"Salvatore. Any relation to the original settlers here in Mystic Falls?" he asks, now remotely interested in what I had to say.
  "Distant." I respond.
"Well, very good. Except, of course, there were no civilian casualties in this battle." he attempts to shut down my final statement, assuring that it was indeed still him who had the last laugh.
"Actually there were twenty-seven, sir. Confederate soldiers, they fired on the church, believing it to be housing weapons. They were wrong. It was a night of great loss." I correct him.
"The founder's archives are stored in Civil Hall if you'd like to brush up on your facts," I say, making sure instead of him it was me who would be laughing. He had no right to harsh on the students that were suffering, especially the loss of their parents. I had been there.

Back at the Boarding House, I had convinced Stefan to leave me at home for this back to school party that the students of Mystic Falls High were hosting, parties generally got boring after one-hundred-and-forty years of going to them, especially ones here in Mystic Falls. He was becoming desperate to win Elena over with his charming smile, which wouldn't take long due to the fact she had shown that she was interested. My night would be spent better here knowing that I could get drunk in the comfort of my own home whilst avoiding the repetitious, arid and stale conversations of sixteen-year-old children who were dancing about whilst terribly intoxicated; it just seemed that a party was the least of what I needed today. Zach had left a little while ago, something about a council meeting which I could only guess was about the recent 'animal attacks' happening around town which meant we most likely had arcane company.

Laying back into the dusty cushions of the dulled crimson couch pillows I was accompanied by a bottle of scotch and another classic from one of the many bookshelves, my very ancient self was going to relax whilst she still could, resting my feet against the coffee table. My thoughts couldn't help but wander around the halls of my mind, never truly stopping to admire the scenery as thoughts rapidly floated by. All I hoped is that things would last between Elena and Stefan, I would hate to have to kill such an innocent girl for such a superficial reason. This young girl bewitched by immense sadness would optimistically be able to clamber out on the other side at least with a man as good as my brother soldiering alongside her. Miss Bennett could feasibly carry on her ancestor's dynasty with a push in the supernatural direction, something I already sensed she was doing on her own volition. I didn't know enough about the wondrous Caroline Forbes to predict my wants for her future, maybe someday I could change that.
