 'I'll keep you safe,' 

'No one else will,' 

 He said. 



 I nod, 

 Like I believe him. 

I let him lie. 

To me, 

 Like I'm dreaming. 



 I know, 

 He doubts, 

 That I believe him.



 'Do you trust me?' 

 I nod, 

 And now, 

 He believes, 

 Because he can't, 

 Read me, 

 The way I do him. 



 And he knows, 

 I read him, 

 And so, he loves me, 

 Dearly, 

Achingly. 

 Like a Curse

 For both of us.
