"I will not be
another flower,
picked for my beauty
and left to die. I will
be wild, difficult
to find, and impossible to
forget."

Jude's POV

"Does she have a sister?" Hunter asked still amused of the breakfast scene that had taken place. "I suddenly want to be your brother-in-law."

Thank goodness she's an only child. Hunter is my best friend and I know him from his roots. He's maybe joking but I don't want him near any breathing women who are important to me. He's a good man, but he's a bad news when it comes to women.

I just ignored him and focused on my cards, but it's hard when the only thing my brain is able to think is my puzzle of a wife and what she said earlier.

Part of me wants to believe that she's just bluffing to get back on Caroline. But there's a nagging part that says she meant everything she said. Especially when she mentioned about the rainy night. It seemed she has a trauma when it comes to bad weather specifically when it rains hard.

But if it's true, I don't believe she intentionally did it. Either she pulled the trigger for self defense or she wanted to save someone. But she's not in jail. God, what I'm thinking it's giving me headache! Plus the voices of those women who decided to have a concert at the pool area aren't helping. If their purpose is to make their presence obvious, well I think that's an effective strategy. Voices like theirs will not be forgotten. Not when our eardrums are about to explode.

"God, I want to throw them out of the ship!" Marcus let out an exasperating sigh and throw all his cards down. He then left without a backward glance.

Maxim flipped his card and chuckled. The man had losing cards that's why he did not finish the game. There are two things in the world Marcus hates most. First, women. Second, losing. The first one is understandable for he was abandoned by his mother when he was five. The second, I don't know the real reason. Maybe it's human nature. For no one wants to lose.

I throw my cards on the table even if they're winning cards. With Marcus gone, I don't think the game will continue.

"I'm gonna check on my wife." And see if she decided to postpone killing me. Why is it amusing every time she throws death threat on my face? I can't help but smile.

"You better be, if you don't want me to snatch her from you. I really do like her. Badass women always earn my respect." I know Hunter just wants to goad me and he really hit it this time. I suddenly want to leave bruises on his face. But I keep my temper checked.

"Don't even think about it, asshole!" I left before I'll finally be able to put my black belt into good use.

I heard their laughter after that and Maxim shouting at my retreating back. "Kidding aside man, we really do like this one. If you don't keep her, someone else will."

Then that someone else will have to kill me first. Because that's the only time he can have her.

Instead of knocking, I tried the doorknob first and it worked. I peek at the room to make sure there are no flying vases, frames or pillows ahead of me. When I'm quite sure the coast is clear, I slipped quietly inside. I feel like a burglar in my own room. How about that?

My wife is in the middle of the bed with one arm over her forehead and the other over her stomach. She looks like she's in deep sleep. The pillows that rained behind my back earlier are neatly arranged beside her. She's still wearing her favorite outfit, long black dress with matching black socks. The only visible skin is her face and her fingers. And also her pretty little ears with three star piercings on both sides. Why I find that hot, I don't know.
