Nick's POV

Ring!

Ring!

Ring!

"Ugh," I groaned out with my eyes still closed. I searched the bed for my phone to shut off that annoying ass ringing.

I'd just sleep for five more minutes. I had time. I'd make time.

I peeled my eyes open and squinted at my phone. What I thought was the buzz of my alarm going off, was in fact the ringtone signifying that my boyfriend was calling me.

Shit. I glanced at the time, seeing that it was six pm.

Shit!

"Uh," I cleared my throat, "hi?"

"Hey baby. I'm gonna be coming home a little later than expected" my heart fluttered at the word 'home', "this meetings taking a bit longer than I thought. I'll be done in about two hours. Want me to pick you up anything?"

A small smile took over my lips without me realizing.

"Uh, no. No, you don't have to get anything. Thank you though, baby."

"Of course, love."

Neither of us said anything for a second.

"Well, what are you doing right now?"

King let out a strained chuckle. "We're breaking for a bit. Meeting was getting a little hectic."

I sat up a bit in bed, a little worried.

"Is everything alright?" I chewed on my bottom lip while I waited for him to answer. He sighed, and I heard what sounded like paper rustling.

"Yeah, yeah everything's good. Just a bunch of alphas in one room...never goes that well. All good though."

"Oh," I chuckled out, laying on my back and lifting up my shirt to scratch at my stomach. I yawned, a little too loud.

"Sorry, did I wake you up? My bad, sweetheart, you should go back to sleep."

I yawned again and shook my head before realizing he couldn't see me.

"Nah, it's okay. I need to get up anyway."

There was a pause before the sound of a muffled conversation floated through the call. I strained my ears like the eavesdropper I am, but I didn't hear a thing.

"So sorry, Nick, but I have to go." I frowned at that. Nick? No babe? Baby? Sweetheart? No-

"I love you so much, baby. Don't miss me too much, I'll be home soon. Are you sure you don't want any food?" He asked, and I could basically hear the way his eyebrows furrowed. I rolled my eyes. Not in annoyance, just cause he's so darn cute!

Ok. Ew. I'm done being sappy. Forever, preferably.

"No, King. I'm fine, thank you. I love you too. See you soon." He said goodbye and I hung up the phone. I exhaled deeply and closed my eyes again.

When I opened them, Sally was licking my face.

"Ewwwww! No girl, cmon we've talked about this!" I pushed her head away from me gently and groaned. I kept my hand on her head and pet her to let her know I wasn't mad.

Ugh. Guess I should actually get up.

Maybe sexy time wouldn't happen. I was too tired.

But if not now, when?

Literally anytime. No biggie.
