Its been almost 5 years now since the day I left a part of me behind. Almost 5 years to the day now, I wiped out all of Lacey's memories and left her back on earth to live a safe life free of any harm my presence could bring her. But now I find myself standing in the middle of the bustling town she lives in, dazed. My first instinct was to find her and make her remember everything but she'll probably hate me for what I did and I don't think I could deal with that...
"Sir, are you coming?" I turned to the, fair haired, scrappy young man behind me and nodded silently. It was a good thing I had picked a second in command before coming here, I knew it would be hard to deal with but I didn't know it would feel like this.
"Yes Trace." I said, turning finally and following him down back streets, getting farther and farther out of the city. We came to a large, desolate plain, or so it seemed to most but in reality it had a hidden facility hunkered in it's middle that only those who worked at it or knew about it could see. The dull, weathered, brick building looked odd set in its current back drop, like a random piece of junk but its all we had.
A vicious war broke out between my father and I's people again, many lives were lost but still no one won and no resolution had been reached. The only thing that brought us back together in the end was knowing what could happen if we didn't.
It started the day the Aryians appeared in our world. They were the realm just below earth and the hand full that showed up were actually the only ones left in existence. They had been attacked and over run by creatures of the lowest realm, the Demolonians. This was something we had considered impossible for all of time but to our horror the threat was real and now threatening to over take the center realm, earth. The Aryians pleaded with my father and I for weeks, becoming messenger owls of communication between us, to put aside our differences before it was too late. I knew the safety of earth was critical, not only for Lacey but for all the realms. My father on the other hand only saw it as a problem because our realm was next and he rather stop it on earth than let it become his problem. So now the rebels and I are on earth to fight the problem.
The on earth facility was buzzing with people, unpacking and running around. But I ignored it all, I needed some time to myself. I dragged myself up the grand stair case and to the door just beyond it which was to be my new office. It was bare still except for a few pieces of furniture. I sunk into a leather couch, put my feet up and crossed my arms behind my head with a sigh but there was a sudden knock on the door.
"Sir, we have more stuff to move into the room." I heard someone say. I sat up and rested my head in my hands, pinching the bridge of my nose.
"Just a minute." I said. When I had collected myself again I went to the door and opened it, letting her in. "I'm going out for a bit, please get this room done before I return." I said, she nodded,
"But Sir you just got back?"
"Yeah and I'm leaving again." I said sharply, she nodded again and stood silently as I left. Everyone stared at me as I walked by, no one wanted to ask but they knew something wasn't right with me. I walked back to the heart of town, things had started to settle down now and the early morning traffic was gone. I walked to the clock tower and looked down across the playground, the swing I found Lacey at the first night we met was bare but it still triggered memories. I shook my head, trying to clear them and stumbled my way into a diner. I heard the door bell jingle above me and an older woman with graying hair looked up at me from behind the counter.
"Oh you look like death honey! Here, come sit down maybe we can get some color back in those cheeks." She said with a heavy southern accent that reminded me a little to much of Lacey but I made my way to the counter and dropped myself into a stool
