Megan woke up, feeling a mix of just waking up from a deep sleep and a second of closing her eyes. She didn't even have time to yawn before the time on the clock caught her eye. It was 5:00. Five o'clock? Megan thought. But it was just four thirty and... She caught herself mid-thought because her mom just walked in. She was standing, drinking a cup of coffee.
After she finished drinking her coffee, she placed it on the counter and said, "Look who's finally up." She smiled and looked a little relieved for some reason.
"Finally up?" Megan pushed herself up onto her elbows. She was sleeping on the couch in her day clothes, a pin clipped to her jeans. "I thought I fell asleep around four thirty because I wasn't asleep that long. Right?"
