"KYO! Did you pay our landlord this month's rent?" Wil yelled as he burst into the living room of the shared suburban house.
Kyo's head snapped to look at Wil, surprised at his sudden appearance. He muted the television program he was watching as he began to stutter sheepishly. "W-Wil, um...Well, you see..." He began to sputter until his brother's calm voice interrupted him.
"Don't worry, Wil. I got that covered for this month." Yuu, who had emerged from the kitchen, responded to Wil's inquiry, his gaze coldly judging Kyo. With a sigh, he sat down on the couch next to his brother, rubbing his neck. "Wil, you should stop worrying so much, you know I can cover things that you can't."
"It's not you I'm worried about." Wil huffed as his took off his work jacket and tie, throwing them on the lounge chair. "Kyo needs to learn responsibility and how to function as an adult. Grandma can't take care of us forever, especially not you exclusively. I tried to nudge you in the right direction, giving you the SIMPLE task of paying Mrs. Nakamura the monthly fee with the money YUU AND I earned. I wasn't going to be too harsh on you, but you're the middle kid in our trio. You need to get a job! Anything! Yuu works two part time jobs for us, you at least need to have a way to get some sort of income! Hell, mow the neighbor's lawns! Anything!" He pleaded exasperatedly, falling onto the couch next to his cousins.
Kyo looked down at his thighs, hints of tears beginning to form in the corners of his eyes. "Well, I... Y'know. I was trying to, uh, build up on a music career." He stated bluntly.
Yuu glanced at Wil, who seemed even more even exhausted than before. Before Wil could start his lecture again, Yuu spoke up. "I understand that you wanna build up a music career, you're an amazingly talented singer. But until you can become rich and famous, you should at least get a steady flow of cash from some job, THEN you can hit the big time."
Kyo perked up slightly. "You mean you'll support my music career?" he asked with a slight smile.
"Yeah, sure. But you gotta work to get up to that spot. You gotta earn our respect." Yuu replied as a smirk painted his face. He looked at Wil, who rolled his eyes. Yuu had always been better at getting through the Kyo, but it annoyed Wil to some degree that Yuu wouldn't be stern with him.
"To be honest," Kyo began to reply, "I actually would...like to start a music career with all three of us. Like, you know, as a group."
Wil raised an eyebrow at his cousin before rolling his eyes with a tired smile. "Sounds fun." He said, a breathy chuckle escaping him. To be completely honest, he would rather sing than continue working the stressful and slow office job he held currently, but he was rational and realistic. "What music would we make?" He asked Kyo, deciding to entertain the idea for a little bit longer.
Yuu shot a surprised look to Wil as Kyo began to reply. "I was thinking we'd sing...Pop-esque like songs as a group! And then there'd be some songs we would have only one of us sing, you know? Like, I would sing our rock songs, you'd sing the ballads, and Yuu would cover the mega pop songs! Sounds great, yeah?"
Wil smiled and shook his head in agreement. "Sounds perfect. But we don't have any equipment for that. So, Kyo, get a job, and maybe we can all buy equipment for ourselves, and then we can all become one of those boy groups."
Yuu nodded, realizing what Wil was doing. He was entertaining Kyo's thoughts to get him to think about getting a job. Wil was great at negotiating, so it wasn't any surprise he was able to get Kyo to consider getting employed, but Yuu secretly hoped that Wil felt the same way he did about the boy group. Being a famous musician was always an aspiration for him.
Kyo nodded, a smile gracing his face. "Great idea! I'll get a job, and then I'll buy quality mics, instruments, and all that stuff for us!"
"You also have to help with utility bills and rent. We can't make music if we have nowhere to live." Wil pointed out.
Kyo nodded yet again. "Yes, yes, I know! Don't worry Wil, I'll be the most dependable cousin ever!"
Yuu and Wil smiled at eachother, each impressed with eachother's work to get Kyo in this state.
"And think! Once we're famous, maybe we can open concerts for people like flower and Merli!" Kyo started to speak again, going back to his fantasies.
"You have some weird ideas for who to open for, bro." Yuu snickered. "We should open for the Kagamines or GUMi."
"Both of you are weird. I'd want to open for Meiko or Utatane Piko." Wil laughed, looking at the two of his cousins with a rare relaxed expression.
Kyo grinned widely as he stood up, his fist in the air. "That settles it!" He yelled. "Let's be Superstars!"
