PLEIONE LOOKED OVER HER SCHEDULE FOR THE SCHOOL YEAR, already wanting it to be over.

"We're in potions first thing," she said, comparing her schedule with Olivia and Gianna. "with Gryffindor and Hufflepuffs."

"That's great!" Vega, Pleiones older sister, who shared nothing in common with her except their looks, said. "Fred and I are in that class again!"

"That's not a good thing, Vega," Iris said, slipping into their conversation. Iris was their cousin, with dirty blonde hair and looked the same as her mother, but that was as much as the similarity went. Iris shared the same cold personality as Lucius. It seemed that she was taking the spot of both the perfect daughter and son. "It's for people who didn't get an outstanding in Potions for their OWLS. Which is very disappointing, considering you're his bloody daughter."

"Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed today," Vega muttered.

"Then we have Moody after," Olivia said, ignoring the other girls. Gianna and Pleione groaned in disgust. Moody stared at the Black sisters like they were a puzzle to be solved.

"This will not be like your fourth-year potions," Professor Snape said as they walked into the dungeon. "you will be taking your OWLS this year, and it is my job to teach you these basic potions knowledge. And for the sixth years who managed to not get outstanding on their OWLS —" he shot a look at Vega, who was whispering something into Fred's ear, "— and should be paying attention to my class, you all have elected to retake your OWL potion class and exam. There will be assigned partners for the rest of the year based on abilities."

Everyone groaned at that, causing Snape to take fifteen points from Hufflepuff and Gryffindor and ten from Slytherin.

The partnering wasn't so bad. Gianna partnered with Adrien Pucey; Olivia was with Oliver Wood; Vega and Fred were together, and Pleione was with Cedric Diggory.

"Hey, partner," Cedric grinned as they sat together. Snape was busy writing the potion on the board to notice them talking. "I'm Cedric, a sixth year."

"Hello, Diggory," Pleione said, not looking at him. "Pleione Black, fifth year."

"Glad I got partnered with you," Cedric continued. "I'm shit at Potions --"

"I can tell," Pleione said, standing up to get the ingredients.

Cedric laughed and stood as well. "I'll get them."

"So," he said once he got back. "did you do anything interesting this summer?"

"Nothing." Pleione started to crush the beetles, pouring them into the cauldron one by one. Potions wasn't her best subject, but she did like it.

"I went to the Quidditch World Cup. I saw your sisters there too, with the Weasleys." He poured Moondew in. "Why didn't you go?"

"Not a fan of Quidditch."

Cedric shook his head. "I play Quidditch."

"I've heard. Cho Chang always talks about you."

"Really?" Pleione could see him flush a pink shade. "That's nice —"

"Oi! Stop flirting with my sister!" Vega shouted across the class, earning a few snickers. Snape muttered, 'five points from Slytherin,' but other than that, he seemed to be ignoring the class.

"I'm not flirting!"

"Flirting with me already, Diggory?"

As he was about to reply, the bell rang, and they all stood to take the flagons of the potion to Snape.
