“This is a palace,” I remarked in admiration as I stepped into m- our new house. My voice echoed off the walls and I heard the quiet echo of Eli’s footsteps behind me. He wrapped his arms around my waist and whispered in my ear. “Wonderful, I know.”
Normally, I’d swat his hand away and show him that he and I were not a couple, but I was in complete awe. The modern setting of the mansion made my heart race. The floors were made of glass with water below them and the walls were painted a light gold. A golden chandelier hung high above our heads and ahead of us was a small wall with a mirror hung on it and a small table pushed against it. Beside the mirror, doorways were cut out and I later learnt that behind that wall was a magnificent kitchen.
To the right of me was a lightly glazed, wooden staircase with a slight curve to it. A red carpet covered the center of the stairs and continued throughout the entire top level.
To the left of me was an entryway, with a flashing light radiating through the door. “Cinema,” Eli whispered behind me and I nodded.
“Where’s our bedroom?” I asked, turning to face Eli.
“Upstairs. First room on the left,” he replied.
“Thanks,” I squeaked, before racing up the stairs.
The moment I opened the door to my new room, my jaw flew open and my eyes widened in amazement. I took a step into the chilly room -just the way I like it- and glanced around.
The walls were painted a light gold, and red drapes covered the windows and doors to the balcony. I ran around the large room smiling wide. There was a mahogany vanity with Mac make-up laid out on it, with a matching stool. I saw three wooden doors and one black one.
I opened up the door closest to me and saw a closet the size of my old room. It was stocked with men’s clothing, shoes and jewelry. The door beside it was the same size, but it contained women’s clothing. Everything was in my size and looked as if it had cost big bucks. The door to the right of it was just a small room with a mini fridge and a couch in it. I chuckled thinking Eli would be sleeping on that, before opening the black door and grinning like a fool.
It led to a large bathroom that was also gold. The shower was gold, with a golden sliding door. The Jacuzzi was gold and the sink and toilet was also gold.
Closing the door behind me, I kicked off my shoes and jumped onto the bed. Eli was right, it was very bouncy. I stood up and began jumping up and down, my hair flying around me. I looked down watching the gold and red sheets crumple beneath my feet.
“What are you doing?” I heard a voice remark, teasingly. I fell back onto the bed, giggling, before looking up at Eli and replying. “Bouncing.”
“D’you like the room? Our bed?” He questioned me, kicking off his own shoes ad climbing onto the bed with me.
I looked him in the eyes and with a straight face I uttered, “You’re sleeping on the couch tonight.”
