He was persistent. Neil, that was. Another day, another apology. If he didn't come into contact with Mia at school, he texted her. At the moment, he stood beneath her apartment balcony once more.

To her own surprise, she could see the genuine remorse he felt over his own actions and hesitated shooing him away again.

"If you were going to regret it that much, you shouldn't have offered in the first place," Mia huffed, leaning over the railing.

Neil frowned. "I don't regret what we did. I regret letting your name become fuel for gossip around the school."

"As if it already wasn't."

He pressed his lips together, knowing she was right and having no rebuttal. She sighed.

"I told you I accepted your apology. What more do you want?"

"Let me make it up to you."

She raised a brow. "With more sex?"

His cheeks pinkened—an unexpected sight from the boy who rarely showed his emotions at school...almost as rarely as Mia.

"I was thinking more of lunch."
