Flashback: What happened?

Cami POV

After I saw Klaus at the wedding I was completely shaken. It had been 3 years since we had spoken and all it took was one conversation for that undeniable connection to rise up between us.

Travis immediately knew something was off with his fiancée' as she hadn't stopped twisting her engagement ring all night and she seemed distanced. Even now as she stare out her balcony window, "Cami what's bothering you?" he asked concerned.

What was she going to say, that she was hoping that an immortal hybrid would come to her balcony window like had so many nights before, all those years ago, that she ran into a guy she had a one night stand with at the wedding. That the one night stand felt less like that, and more like the best night of her life, with a promise of forever.... right before the guy tried to murder her so she would become a vampire. She should also tell him she was hoping that he would come here tonight to stop her from marrying him because as happy as Travis made her, and he did make her very happy, that her heart belong to someone else. It belong to someone that couldn't treasure it or appreciate like Travis did, it belong to someone that could never offer her a family or a human future like Travis could, but regardless there was still a part of her that wished he would show up on her balcony and for once tell her to remember instead of forget. To remember the way it felt when they touched each other like the were the answer to each other's pain and pleasure. To remember that he knew her soul like she knew his and that she couldn't marry Travis because she belonged to him and he belonged to her. No, she wouldn't even tell herself those truths. So she sighed knowing that she would have a content future with Travis and kids and a blossoming career and that she might always long for what could have been with someone else, but she would be as happy as she could be.

"Nothing, I'm just tired." Cami said as they got into bed and snuggled off to sleep. (Well at least Travis was able to find sleep)

Klaus POV

Klaus was distressed the entire time at the wedding and much worse after. He couldn't help the possessive stare he would grant in Cami's direction trying to go unnoticed by Aurora's blazing gaze. He couldn't help the murderous daggers he was staring at her fiancée's as he held Camille. He certainly couldn't help the pain he felt deep within his soul, deep within his chest, deep within his broken heart knowing that he was the cause of not being with her. And when he got home all that self-loathing came bubbling to the surface and exploded into a massive fight with his girlfriend, Aurora. Aurora had been an old flame of Klaus' and they had rekindled their romance, but the relationship was far from what it once was and after seeing Camille tonight he wanted nothing more than to be done with Aurora. Aurora was clingy, possessive, manipulative, and extremely jealous. Klaus found it amused him and kept him from being bored, but now it just annoyed him.

"I want to break up" Klaus said flatly after ignoring what felt like the 100th question from Aurora about his behavior tonight. "What you can't be serious?" Aurora was shocked to say the least. They were petty, they fought or said things to hurt each other, but he never broke up with her before- was this a new game? "Is this so we can have make-up sex, because we can just have hate-sex and skip the break up" Aurora climbed up on top of Klaus who was lounging on his bed having a drink. Klaus pushed her off and was not amused by her sultry behavior. "No. We're done Aurora," he said again, just said it flatly without any real explanation.  "This is about the blonde from tonight isn't it, who is she?" Aurora was in his face and threatening, but all that did was anger Klaus more. "Aurora, enough. Get out. We're through." She was crying in hysterics and was not about to lose her love so easily. "I can fix this, whatever it is we can work it out, we love each other, Nik. I can give you want you want if you let me try." Aurora was practically begging and Klaus was at his wits end. He just didn't have the patience after realizing that Camille had remembered everything, it had made him reconsider why he had sent her away in the first place, why he compelled her to forget.. all he could think now was if there was still hope of being with her.
