acadia private school is undoubtedly the most prestigious school in the world.

it's common knowledge that only the very richest of the rich can attend; one of the reasons being that the fees are way too expensive for just an average rich person to pay for. even a stable high class family wouldn't even dream of sending their children to acadia in fear of turning totally broke.

the school starts from kindergarten all the way to university, and even though some students enrol even before they are born, not all of them get in.

acadia is owned, ran by and named after the most successful conglomerate in the world. from electronics, vehicles and oil refining to clothing, entertainment and cuisine, it wouldn't be hard for a person to come across an acadia store more than three times in a day.

but the reason why this school is the object of the world's jealousy is, quote on quote, the result of the worldwide saying: "a family can't go anywhere without an acadia graduate".

however, no matter how many times you hear this saying, you swear that you will never want to attend that school for spoiled brats. even if you were paid to attend for a week you would gladly give it up and continue going to heikin highschool—the local public school that virtually everyone attends.

"ugh, y/n!" you hear the familar groan of your bestfriend, aliana, before her dark-skinned arms wrap around your shoulders from behind. "i hate that maths teacher i swear! how is it my fault if my homework was stolen on the way to school?"

"you said it was stolen by one of the acadia students, ali." you reply with a calculating look as you turn to face her. "mr moss could tell it was obviously a lie."

"how? he doesn't know if he set the same homework as their maths teacher set them."

she takes one look at the expression on your face—the one you use when aliana is reaching for excuses—and sighs deeply.

"anyways, he gave me a detention tomorrow so don't wait for me, 'kay?"

you nod and begin walking out of the school gates, aliana still hanging onto you like a toddler. you're used to it by now as she has always been a very touchy person.

"are you going to the café today? tell mr cha that i can't make my shift today then please—!"

"why not?" you ask. "don't tell me you're..."

aliana unwraps her arms around you and winks with a smile. "i've got a movie date with jeffrey!"

a well-deserved groan escapes your lips. jeffrey is aliana's on-and-off (mostly off) boyfriend that is, to put it simply, a douchebag. there's no nicer way to describe him—he's a douchebag with below-average grades and a superiority complex.

he's been given way too much attention for his looks, that aren't even that outstanding. you've seen much better looking boys before... such as your favourite group, grnd zero.

honestly, you don't know what aliana sees in him.

"don't look at me like that, y/n. it's definitely going to work out this time!"

she's been saying the same thing for the past three years.

instead of a reply, you turn on your heel and begin walking in the opposite direction to the café, ignoring aliana insisting that jeffrey is her soulmate and that she'd pay the next time you both go out to eat.

"that girl... i ought to fire her." mr cha rolls his eyes as you guiltily explain that aliana won't be turning up to work. "what do you think. y/n? should i?"
