Should there be something easier to shatter than glass, I suppose it would be my heart.
There's nothing like the slow suspense of cracking, the dragging feeling of splitting open from the inside. There's the fear, the ignorance, the resentment of thine self, the agony, the despair. The pain is like none other; though it may always be a different sort, it will never change throughout the process. Never will it fade nor pierce with more force.
There is nothing to lose if there is not pain, for then we'd be free to gain what we wished. We wouldn't learn what the meaning of life happens to be. For this reason we are careful, unsure of whether we'll splinter or not if we chose to follow through with a dangerous action such as trust, or loyalty. It, seems, however, that our unfortunate souls chose to take the risk every time. They want to feel, want to know. They don't seem to understand.
And I suppose this explains the saying: "with age comes wisdom"
We get to the point where we anticipate the feeling, where we can understand what will come to pass if we take the leap. So over the years the human heart may be bruised, cracked, dented, or blackened.
But at least we understand.
Or rather, we try.

Samples!
De TodoSo I've been writing short samples recently... And I figured, why not put them up?? So far I have three, but maybe if I get some good feedback I'll make a few more? I dunno, just seemed like a fun way to keep my writing alive on here.
