Craig returned home and packed his bags for the next day. He grabbed some hoodies and jeans and on top of them his youth pastor uniform. The black shirt and white slit he put in the collar. He sat for dinner with his family and prayed.
"Mom" Craig said just as they were about to start eating.
"Yes son"
"When will Ruby come home"
"Not for a while" Mrs Tucker said as she ate
"Your sister is a dirty dyke! She had to be sent to boarding school we didn't have a choice" Mr Tucker said
"You mean a conversion camp" Craig said
"Don't call it that Craig" Mrs Tucker rolled her eyes
"I just miss her" Craig said
"So, do we but we cant have her bringing sin into our home" Mr Tucker said
That night when his parents were asleep Craig crept into Ruby's old room. He looked at her things before opening her desk drawer. Inside was a pride flag that had the words 'WE DIDN'T CHOOSE' written in black marker. Craig picked it up and wrapped it around him before looking in the mirror. He Felt shame just looking at himself and dropped the flag letting it fall to the floor.
Craig didn't know what came over him as tears began pouring from his eyes. Maybe it was missing his sister or the deep feeling of shame and guilt every time he saw those damn rainbow flags. Craig crept out the room wiping his teary eyes as eh collapsed onto the bed and cuddled into his pillow. He composed himself and kneeled beside his bed and joined his hands.
"Our father who aren't in heaven hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, that will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not in to temptation but deliver us from evil, oh father why do you do this to me, I have been good, I am faithful to your every holy spoken word yet you let me live in this turmoil every day, this sicking, vile pain, of... fear and sin... I haven't had any sinful thoughts but everyday it gets harder and I soon will be among them... give me the strength to stay pure, amen" Craig stood up and wiped the tears from his cheeks before curling back onto his bed.
The next morning bright and early Craig awoke to his parents grabbing their bags and getting ready to leave.
Craig got up and got dressed into a blue jacket and jeans. He grabbed his blue chullo hat and grabbed his bag.
His family drove to the airport where Craig met Clyde, Token and Bebe who were all ready waiting to go in.
"Took your time tucker" Clyde rolled his eyes
"Its too early for this" Bebe yawned
"Its 6AM Bebe" Token laughed
"Exactly" Bebe frowned
"Are we going or not" Craig said sternly
"Okay calm down" Clyde said as they all followed Craig inside
They were quick through security and stopped at an airport café for breakfast before they headed for priority seating.
Craigs parents sat together and Craig and Token sat behind them and then Bebe and Clyde behind them.
"Good thing I brought earphones" Bebe said
"Same" Token said
"Oh what you are going to be ignoring me" Clyde huffed
"Looks like it" Craig said as he watched Token and Bebe zone out and focus on their screens
"Okay Craig ill talk to you" Clyde said
"Nope"
"Why"
"Im ignoring you too"
"You brought ear phones?"
"Nope, im just preparing lectures" Craig said as he pulled a folder out his back pack.
"You are so lame dude" Clyde rolled his eyes
Craig ignored Clyde and focused on his folder.
"Omg craig look" Clyde said patting Craigs shoulder over the seat
"Not falling for it" Craig said
"No seriously look to your left" Clyde said
Craig gave in and looked over to see a large group of people all dressed in rainbow attire.
"You think they are going to the pride?" Clyde said
"No shit" Craig whispered
One of the men with a long black beard saw Craig and Clyde watching them and smiled
Craig put up his middle finger and whispered under his breath "May god have mercy on your soul"
"Are they going to be that obnoxious the whole way" Clyde huffed
"They better not" Craig sighed
"I swear looking at them I feel sin, I cant imagine what it will be like in new York" Clyde rolled his eyes
"It will be bad" Craig said not looking up
"Faggots" Clyde said quietly to Craig but obviously to loud as a woman head
"Excuse me what did you say" A woman stood up
"I said you're all sinning faggots" Clyde repeated
"You cant talk to us like that" The woman said
"He can and we all will" Craig said looking rather pissed off
"Who are you to tell us..." A man started
"Look... mam... sir... were catholic protesters, we don't agree with your life-style and we only want you to help you find god" Craig said
" We don't need god" Another man said
"Then may you enjoy the pits of hell" Craig said
"They are just dumb kids Kevin leave them alone" Another man said holding down the man next to him that looked like he was ready to kick off.
"Who are you calling dumb? That's my son you're talking to" Mr Tucker said
"Oh god not more of them" The first woman sighed
"Dad just ignore them" Craig said
The rest of the flight was tense and uncomfortable. Craig finished sorting his folder and done some silent prayer while Clyde eventually fell asleep.
