I don’t wanna be like some of the average black men these days, men that are based upon the criteria of media, therefore you stray far when you see us.

I don’t wanna be the average black man who you fear in the middle of the night, so to the other side you venture to conceal your fright. What is yours is surely mine…right?

Or the black man you seek to for weed cause as another hood brother on the street weed I must  need?

Excuse me please…

I am not the man you worry about picking your locks, creeping through the window or kicking down your front door

I am not the man who never established a relationship with his children cause giving out money was never an option, therefore child support is always missing.

I am not the man who grew up in a broken home, spent 3 years in an orphanage and now he’s just another orphan to these streets.

I am not who you believe me to be. My life story isn’t carved upon these streets, on t-shirts or in my family’s memories, all because of the pop-pop of a gunshot.

I am not average….but I am the man who takes time to hold his kids, work 9-5 and still has time to take my wife out as a birthday gift. I am the man who deals with his problems like the business it is, I am the man who gets up when knocked down cause giving up isn’t an option.

I am this man…at least I try to be, there’s a 150 thousand just  like me striving for the best, if one falls there’s still more to differ from the rest.
