It's been 5 months since you've last seen each other. Five long months since you broke it off, and you were miserable to say the least. You loved Ethan...way more than a normal person should. You two have dated since junior year of high school, so when he started talking about having kids you freaked out.
You never told him that you were unable to have kids, and you didn't want him to live a life without the one thing he wanted the most. The one thing you couldn't give him. So you left. You broke things off and haven't seen him since.
You ended up moving out of your shared apartment while he was gone with his brother. You felt bad you didn't give him an explanation, but you knew he wouldn't let you leave if you did. He'd tell you that he didn't care, when in reality he'd be hurting.
Of course he wouldn't mind adoption but he always talked about how much he wanted a little Y/N or a little Ethan. It broke your heart, but you knew he'd get over you and live a happy life with another girl.
Another girl that wouldn't be you. "What're thinking about now Y/N" You shrugged her shoulders in response to her sister. "Just wondering when I'm gonna find a place, I hate being back home." You teased.
Avery lightly shoved you. She knew everything, and why you were back home. You could never lie to her but you just didn't want to talk about it anymore. You two were over for good. And from what you could see from his Instagram, he's already moved on. Just like you hoped.
"I know that's not what you were thinking about, but I won't bug you about it." She smiled as she clicked onto Snapchat.
"Did I tell you about Jordan?" You shook your head in response keeping your eyes on your computer. "Okay so we stopped talking, he said he liked me but I don't like him like that. You know?"
"No I don't." You replied shutting your laptop and looking at her. "You know you're 26? When are you gonna settle down?" You've always thought your sister had trust issues. She played it off that she just messes with boys and it's on to the next, but you know deep down...she just wants a family.
"You know I don't date." You rolled your eyes before stomping to your childhood room, which was shared with Avery. Perks of having multiple siblings.
You were jealous. She could date, get married, have kids, buy a house, she could have it all. Yet she wasted her years on useless flings that never stuck. You toss yourself under the covers and grab your phone heading to Instagram. You hesitated before clicking on Ethan's profile and looking at his posts.
She's pretty.
He looked happy...that's all that mattered. You shut your phone off in a hurry before staring at the ceiling.
He occupied your mind every second of the day. You hadn't slept alone in so long that the feeling still feels foreign. You couldn't be in your bed right now.
You headed downstairs, "Where you going?!!" grabbed your keys rushing out the door.
You didn't respond. As soon as you got in your car you drove to that spot that no one knew about. That spot that was yours and Ethans. You just needed to feel his presence.
-
You woke up to the sound of your alarm blasting in your ear telling you it was time to get up.
You threw your long curly hair into a pony tail before putting some sweats on and heading downstairs. You'd made yourself a schedule to keep your mind occupied, so you didn't have time in your day to think about him.
But there's always times when his presence sneaks up on you, and you let yourself fall all over again.
You absolutely hated waking up early but you always enjoyed going on morning runs with Grayson. Plus the benefits it took on your health were amazing.
