Quinn
"This is horse crap."
Charley says angrily, pulling and pushing at her cars gears, trying to make it move, for the twentieth time.
"Babe, just let me drive you home, please," I beg. Charley isn't the kind of person who invites you to her house, and I've never figured out why.
"I don't want a lift, I'll walk."
"Your house is across the next town."
"Fine, I'll catch a cab."
"You spent all your money on twirly fries, and I spent all mine on nuggets, so that's a no go."
Charley pulls out a wallet from and school bag, before opening it and waving a twenty dollar note in my face.
"Nope, I'm sorted. thanks Quinny but I'm okay."
Suddenly, the dark clouds above us give in, and rain pours down onto the pavement, drenching us in the process.
"Charley Greyman, aboard my car immediately or I will leave you to catch pneumonia and freeze your cute bum off," I reach out and grab Charley by the waist, embracing her in a big, wet hug.
The rain is sliding down her cheeks, making her glow as the dim light reflects it.
"We going?"
Charley nods her approval before pushing her lips to my cheek, tasting the fresh water that's resting on them. I feel myself pull her in tighter, wanting nothing more than to stay like this forever.
"Quinn, I'm freezing my ass off, lets go," she drags me towards my car, jumping in the passenger seat.
I go around the other side, pulling open the door to see Charley huddled in a ball, pointing towards the seat. She's so cute.
I slide in, adjusting my seat belt before turning the key, the car roaring to life. Slowly, the car heats up and Charley rests her wet head against my shoulder. Her left hand fiddles with the radio until a song by The Smiths comes on, drifting into our ears.
The car ride takes around twenty minutes, and I can hear Charley snoring softly against me as we pull up at her house. I wake her with a light kiss on the nose, and she shuffles around slowly, until coming fully awake.
She looks at me, with her big loving eyes, and I melt a little. Hey, even guys are mushy sometimes.
"Thanks for the lift Quinny," she smiles, before our lips are embracing one another in a warm, soft kiss.
I pull away slowly, "babe, I won't be able to stop myself if you keep teasing me."
She laughs lightly, before opening the car door. I do the same. Guys, a gentlemen always walks his lady to the door.
Just as I'm shutting my door, a shady figure appears at her front door, "HEY! What the fuck are you doing home from school early? Get inside you lil' bitch!"
I look away from the man, to Charley. She's turned as white as paper. I walk over to her, stepping protectively in front. Who the fuck is this asshole?
"Quinn, you have to leave."
"No way in hell-" I'm cut off as the man screams again, demanding she comes inside.
Before I have a chance to object, she runs to her front door, motioning a cellphone with her hands towards me. She'll call. SHE'LL CALL ME AFTER GOING INSIDE WITH THIS DICK MUNCHER?
Anger rises within me as Charley disappears behind her front door. I stare up at the shabby cream house, with overgrown bushes and an old pink swing set out the front.
