I remembered nothing about my past. Nothing. Not even my name. All I remembered was darkness, and then suddenly a light. The light was called a ghost, and judging by the sound of his voice he was helping me. He told me to run, told me to get out of the open. So I did what I was told.

I ran into the nearest building I could find, and went inside. The fallen were in hot pursuit. What were the fallen? I soon found out that they thrived in darkness. They were dangerous creatures, and the ghost found some light for us. I grabbed the first weapon I saw and was off trying to escape what was chasing me. The darkness. It seemed like the darkness would always be right on my heels. But that was yet to pass.

The ghost told me I was a guardian. One of the last left alive to fend off the darkness. He told me there were so few of us left that the darkness had overcome most of the universe. How this had come to pass, I would not know. Most speculated. Others that knew were vague and ominous.

Once I had blasted past a few fallen and reached the end of the compound, I found a ship. The ghost said it seemed operational, and to hold off the fallen trying to steal the ship; while he got the ship ready. I shot with the auto-rifle and killed the group of fallen who were battling me. It was tough, and I took cover behind a wall to make sure I wasn't shot.

Once they were cleared out, the ghost brought me into the ship. He took over the directional controls and set a course for some place called the Tower. The Tower was the last safe haven for all beings who were forged in light. It was the last place where the guardians could call a home. I was nervous. I had only been alive for a few short hours and now I was supposedly this power that was to drive back the darkness? I was the last hope of the few beings left who sought refuge from the darkness? How could this be possible when I didn't even have a name?

As we sped our way to the Tower, I questioned the ghost about my origins. Apparently I was a race called the awoken. We had bluish or purple tones to our skin, and are a fair race of intellectuals. We are humanoid in appearance, but different in many ways. He told me I was a Hunter. I puzzled this statement in my mind. What was I hunting?

Ghost explained that a Hunter was a class of guardian that was stealthy in nature. Hunters were mostly lone wolves who preferred to work alone. They were clever and resourceful. I looked down at my gloved hands. I flexed the muscles and wondered what it was like before the darkness? Ghost mentioned I should look at my reflection.

So I found a screen in the ship, and studied my face. I am female, my skin a periwinkle color. My eyes were a bright green, they almost seemed to glow. My hair was medium length with a lot of layers chopped into it. I had a piece of fabric tied around my temple, and merlot colored lips. I guessed I was attractive. I would need confirmation of another to be sure, but my features were prominent with high cheekbones, full lips, and a small nose.

I asked Ghost more questions about me, and he knew about as much as I did. Which was practically nothing. I scratched my silver hair and leaned back in the seat. I wondered what the Tower would be like. What it would be like to meet other beings.

Ghost told me that the Tower would be exciting. It would be new and different. He also said to be wary of others. Some guardians weren't so keen to teach newlings what being a guardian was all about. I sighed and closed my eyes, letting Ghost know to wake me when we get there.

"We're here." He stated plainly, a mere minute later, as the ship pulled into a docking bay.

I was phased out of the cockpit and onto a grassy area. The sun was bright and I blinked in response. There was a dull thundering of voices and boot steps as my eyes finally adjusted. There was writing below my feet, The Atrium. My guess was that this was the central hub of the Tower. I was greeted by a robot. She uttered a welcome hunter and I nodded in response. Where do I go now?
