Sitting down at that table reminded me of the good old times. I missed them so much. I never thought I would, but I did. But, all good things must come to an end. Soon enough I got a text from my mom to come home IMMEDIATELY.

"Hey, uhm... I have to head back home now" I blurt out interrupting Jared's rant about how they need more cheese on his nachos.

"Already?" Brody whines like a child who's just been told he has to go home from a play-date with a good friend. Isn't it me who should be whining?

"Yeah... it's late... well, by my parents standards it is." I say getting up.

"OH, before you go" Lexi adds "There's this concert tomorrow night. You know how Jared's cousin works security at the House of Blues right?" I nodded, yes, I remember how Archie Valdez snuck us into concerts and even backstage sometimes, all for one little price though-we help pack up band equipment and clean-up. It wasn't really bad though, we got to get close to the buses and although we never interacted with any bands that way, it was still pretty cool. "Well, he said he could sneak us i again, front row, because seating won't really matter when it turns into somekind of mosh pit"

"I-I don't really know" I answer sheepishly "I have a school camping trip the next day and I promised a friend I'd sleep over so we could catch the bus together the next day"

"Man, you've changed Red" Terry commented. It made me uneasy. I used to laugh at prep kids, now I AM one of them.

"I didn't, I promise. But I'm on 'probation' with my parents. I'm still trying to get them to trust me again, you know." My friends nodded sincerely. Lexi started scribbling something on a piece of paper.

"Here" Lexi handed me the piece of paper with her number on it "in case you change your mind" I took the piece of paper although, I knew I wouldn't use it. "It is an Allstar Weekend's concert afterall. Thought you wouldn't want to miss that" She shrugged "Maybe I was wrong"

Just a few words caught my attention: ALLSTAR WEEKEND. My mind, once again, debated with itself wether I should go.

"I'll think about it" Was all I said and then I turned away from them.

I arrived home only to see my parents with a couple suitcases at their feet. What was happening?

"Mom, Dad? Where are you going?"

"I have a board meeting in New York that just came up, we'll be gone for about 3 days. You'll still be at your little camping trip when we get home" Dad replied.

"Why is mom coming?" She doesn't really go on business trips.

"Well, since it's in New York, I'd like to give your brother a surprise visit" says Mom in her shrill happy voice.

"We were just about to leave, sweetie. The fridge is stocked, so we assume you'll survive. We trust that you'll behave while we're gone?" Dad says sternly

"Yes." I say "I promise" Mom kissed me on the forehead and we said our goodbyes, but the whole time these things were happening I was only thinking about one thing- The All Star concert. I know it sounds crazy, but with my parents gone, maybe I can slip out for just one night come right back home after the concert and go to that camping trip and they'll never find out! It's perfect! But then again, what if they do find out? What will Mags think when I cancel our sleepover. What if she tells on me? Nah, scratch that one, she would never do that. What if I screw this up and my parents won't trust me anymore? I've been doing so good, I couldn't possibly destroy my new reputation. I actually like it this way. It's safe. But I just want a little fun. I mean it's just a concert, right? They're perfectly safe. I go in, have some clean fun, get out and the next day I go to that camping trip. I'll just be extra careful. I just realized, I don't miss my old life, I miss having fun. That's all. After the concert, I'll probably be satisfied enough to go back to normal... back to perfect, just the way I like it. I think.

I reached for the piece of paper in my bag. I unruffled the tiny, crumpled piece of paper that had Lexi's chunky handwriting on it. I took my phone and dialed the number. My fingers trembled over the screen, but they managed to type in the number. I held the phone to my ear with a shaky hand. It started ringing... once... I took a deep breath... twice... Then someone picked it up.

"Hello?" Lexi's voice said.

"Lexi? Uh.. it's R-red" I stuttered at the name. "Uh... Do you-" Lexi squealed in delight and cut me off before I could even say anything.

"So, you're coming with us?!"

"Yeah" I replied "The timing was perfect... my parents are out of town, so they wouldn't mind if I slipped out for one night to go to a concert. I mean what's the worst that could happen?" I chuckled

"That's awesome. I'll tell the guys. They'll be so happy! We'll pick you up at six-ish tomorrow?"

"Yeah. Th-That would be great!" I said "Okay, bye and thanks Lex" Then I put the phone down.

What did I just do.
