"Dongju, tell me again why we are hiding in your room rather than out mingling with your party guests?" Hwanwoong asked after Dongju dragged him to his suite in the palace once he stepped foot on the grounds. Dongju looked as Princely as he could get. He wore a fitted suit that hugged his curves in all the right places with the national colour of the North Nation which was navy blue, representing the blue oceans of the Earth. He wore his crown that was bestowed upon him on his eighteenth birthday party. Dongju wore that crown whenever he had to attend formal events such as today. Hwanwoong on the other hand wore less of a flashy suit with the same colour scheme as Dongju. All attendants that were from the North would be wearing navy blue, whilst all attendees of the South would be wearing green representing the lands of Earth.
"I don't want to go out there Hwanwoong. This elaborate ball was father's idea, it is too extravagant and conspicuous to introduce me to the foreign prince." Dongju pouted. Ever since his father had made a peace treaty with the South Nation, Donju knew the next step was a betrothal with the Prince of the South. He felt that he was set up! He had absolutely no choice in the matter, which only made things worse for him. Dongju didn't want to be engaged to someone he barely knew. But he knew where his duty lied, and that meant he had to marry to secure the peace between the two nations. Didn't mean he had to go along with everything his father set out for him.
"You hiding up in your room is not going to fix your problems Dongju. You must make peace with your future husband if this marriage is going to work. Although first you have to be formally introduced to him." Hwanwoong spoke truthfully. Even though Dongju and Hwanwoong were very distant cousins, it didn't mean that Hwanwoong didn't know the pressures that Dongju had over his head. If anything he could emphasize with Dongju on some level. He understood his frustrations and wanted to ease the burden on his shoulders even for a little bit.
"I bet he isn't even that good looking." Dongju exasperated. "If all the servants and my father weren't hiding him from me this entire week I might've been able to have a normal conversation with my future husband. Alas, I have to be introduced to him in front of an audience, that I don't particularly appreciate." Dongju growled out. Hwanwoong knew his thoughts on this matter because he could imagine himself in the same situation. Dongju never even had a normal conversation with his fiance, nevermind a single glance at what he looked like! How could he be able to smile and act as if everything is pleasant when he is being watched like a hawk by ravenous birds, waiting to latch onto any form of gossip.
"Hmm, I'm sure that he has to at least look pleasant to the eyes for your father to deem him suitable for you." Hwanwoong added to the conversation. "You know Dongju, I want to help you out. But you must make an effort to look content with this decision. Hiding up here will do you no good." Hwanwoong said seriously to Dongju.
Dongju who had looked dejected and gloomy just a second ago suddenly jumped in his seat clapping his hand together excitedly. "You know Hwanwoong, last night I dreamt that I had a scandalous rendezvous with a total stranger. Totally a fictional dream, although I wish it could come true." Dongju added playfully.
"Oh come on Dongju, you are really not suggesting that I aid you in having a one night stand on the day you are introduced to your betrothed?!" Hwanwoong exasperated, clearly at a wits end with what could be running through Dongju's head.
"Who do you take me for Hwanwoong? I'm seriously mad at you for suggesting that I have a one night stand. What I meant was it would be great if you could have a one night stand, in my stead." Dongju said seriously. "You can live the dream that could never come to fruition for me. My dearest cousin, please?" Dongju pleaded to Hwanwoong with those puppy dog eyes of his. Hwanwoong knew where this was going. Once Dongju had an idea in his mind he made it his mission to complete it, even if it was the impossible, Dongju was never denied. This was one of those times, Hwanwoong knew that he would not be able to refuse Dongju's request, even with how ridiculous it sounded.
"Dongju..." Hwanwoong started.
"Great! Let's go down and scope out your prey for this evening Hwanwoong." Dongju stood up right away and headed for the door without moment's notice. Hwanwoong sat on his seat, and tried to come to terms with what a night he was about to have. Defeated he placed his head into his hands and hoped to God he would make it out of tonight in one piece.
