She just stared at him.A young boy in his old black and white school uniform. He had a scar running across his cheek and the tie worn around his neck was dirty and grimy as if he made mud angels on the ground.

But the way he held himself made her feel as if he was just waiting for the world around him to grow up and she felt like a little child playing.

"So would you like to tell me what your name is or are you going to keep giving me that look people get when they squish an ant".

Wow rude much.Melanie thought. She wrapped her coat around her arms and snuggled her neck into it to stop herself from blushing like a ripe tomatoes. "Melanie Jenkins".

He brushed his hands through his hear and rolled his eyes with annoyed expression painted on his face " Sorry I didn't quite get that my names Peter Dawns,I attend an all boys school and I'm quite used to girls throwing themselves at me just it's never had this kind of effect before."

Melanie sighed and let out a cold breath from her mouth that came out in white cold puffs.

"The only effect here is the weather..I'm cold that's why and my name is...M.melanie.Jenkins"Her voice came out in a soft slight tone that Peters ear seemed to prick up at the sound of it.

"Okay M.melanie"he said before laughing at his own joke. She anxiously began to knot her fingers together and felt that sudden rush to bit her nails. Why was he talking to her?Honestly, out of all the confident and prettier girls in sight he decided to talk to the one looking at an owl as if it was the mona lisa.

Cautiously she walked away smiling but felt his shadow following her.Standing over the Marsh both of the outlines of their bodies came out blobby and distorted like creatures.

"You still here".
"Yes since you seem completely ecstatic I am still here but don't say your one of them".

She turned around to look at him as his hands threw the rose into the Marsh and let it be slumped up soundless ly.

"One of what, you mean the frogs.Dont mind the makeup on a normal day my face is as bear and less clumpy as a baby's bottom."

He looked at her puzzled with his dark eyes like a marbles rolling across a retrograde of earth. Then a small smile came on his face and distinctive lines almost made his face change altogether."Well I'd never liken your face to a baby's bottom " he paused and shifted on his feet and "by one of em I'm mean the lads and such of people who think the only way to get across something that can swallow you up is to travel on something that's on top of something that can swallow you up".

"But the rocks are the only way to cross the Marsh. Where else can we go?"
"We can go around just because a circle has no corners doesn't mean that it's got no point. The best point of a circle is the parts on the outside.Wouldnt you want to take a trip in the big bad woods just for a while."He looked up his arms Wide and stared up at the sky..there were no stars in sky but a plain just flew by.
"I mean when you wake up tomorrow no one's gonna let us play big bad wolf are they".A cheeky grin came across his face as he turned and headed into the woods straying away from the crowd and Melanie felt her feet belonging to that of a meer ghosts as they seemed to float as they followed him.Yet more alive too.

A canopy of trees were like hands playing peekaboo and blocking her view. She caught sight of Peter with his bright golden hair leading the way...as deeper and deeper they got swallowed up by the smell of wildflowers..the heat of the bark rubbing against their skin and the sound of children's voices getting further and further away.
