THE WIND BLEW THROUGH Juniper Moriarty's hair as she sat at the back of the truck that afternoon. The group already knew they'd get crap from Zach the moment they'd get back to the beach. One reason being the fact that they took much longer than they were supposed to to get the alcohol. Another being the fact that they already drank half a box.

Now, they drove back, Daniel sleeping as he laid across Evelina's lap. The blonde stared out at the ocean view, taking in the peace. Meanwhile, Juniper stared down at her hands, sitting comfortably beside Corbyn. They didn't speak, and it was nice.

It was obvious they were all thinking up a storm while they sat in the calm. Some were good— like how Evelina Nottley was reminiscing as she gazed out into the sea. And others weren't so good, like how June still didn't know what she wanted to do with her life, let alone if she even wanted to go back to school.

It was no more than five months ago, but she still thought about it every time she thought of school.

What happened to her? What happened to that girl she used to be? The one that wasn't scared. The one that didn't feel like have anxiety attacks every other minute. The one who was happy.

Juniper felt trapped in a body she didn't belong in. She felt like she just wasn't who she wanted to be. She wasn't herself. She felt like she was going to implode if she kept this act up for one more second. She didn't want to keep pretending like she was fine. She didn't want to keep pretending like something wasn't bothering her every single day; because something was definitely bothering her. It's been bothering her for the last four years.

Nobody ever noticed June's change in attitude; nobody except Corbyn Besson. He knew every bit of the girl and nobody even knew because as far as most knew, they were never friends. He knew when she was anxious. He knew when she was happy. And he knew when something was off with her. So he saw how she was, no matter how much she'd try to hide it.

The boy's eyes flickered down to her hand as he sat beside her. He wished he could ask or even talk to her about how she was feeling, but she'd be dead before she confided in him about anything. He wanted to comfort her— help her— but she never wanted anyones help or his specifically.

He didn't like that. He didn't like knowing that something was bothering her but never knowing why. It wasn't like he could ask anyone else either because she stopped talking to them about it too. Then again, It wasn't like they noticed anyway.

Juniper used to have a hint of reliance towards people; but now she didn't. Just like how she used to be friends with Corbyn Besson; but now she wasn't. How she used to enjoy school; but now she didn't. And how she used to have a proper boyfriend; but now she didn't.
