watching calypso break down in character was gut wrenching for anyone. literally. it was so ... believable. her eyes were met with tears. pain.
"where do i begin? we're dead. you told me-" the subtle pause in her singing made it intriuging. silence had taken up the auditorium until she contiuned.
"we'd live. but here we are, on the ground dead." The shot in the air made jonathan flinch a bit.
"i begged you to stay but you said no. Now i wonder why were both dead. it was because of you" calypso sung. anthony was laying on the ground, barely holding on to her hand. he was trying his best not to cry on scene.
"this never happened before. i think you'd like it downtown. Sometimes Falling in love is a mistake." the lights dimmed down as everyone on screen exited and got prepped for dear theodosia. It was one of the few moments every cast member wanted to cry. all because of calypso.
"stop making me want to cry" jonathan said in a hushed tone. calypso flashed a grin before hugging him.
"best friend shush" she whispered, before releasing him. jonathan rolled his eyes. anthony creeped up on calypso, wrapping his hands around her waist making her quietly laugh.
"ant!" she whispered. anthony kissed her cheek before running away from her for his interlude.
quick changes were a handful in theatre. she kind of hated quick changes but she was use to it. finally in her baby blue costume which in fact was stunning, she put on some touches and re did her hair to her regular bun style before exiting again. Calypso always loved the role of aricia madison. she always had a compelling history. literally a human form of a loose canon, competely destroying hamiltons marriage with eliza. By now she was booking it down the hallway only having about 1 minute left till 'what'd i miss'
"Calypso!" jazzy whispered. The panic started to set it when calypso heard her voice.
"what jazz?" she asked. non stop was playing in the background.
"sorry jazz! gotta go!" she said, running towards the wings.
making her usual entrance on stage was always fun. walking in, pausing a bit to look at daveed while he makes eye contact with her, then oak nudging her to pay attention.
"oh god he came back from paris finally" she mumbled. daveed made his usual song entrance.making his way to oak and herself, calypso smiled and extended her hand in respect.
"my friends the madisons waiting in slience, poor james is red in the face. They grab my hand and i ask what going on?" oak rolled his eyes and shook daveeds hand in character.
"Thomas, we are engaged in a battle for our nation's very soul, you have to get us out of the mess we're in. the orphan's new financial plan is nothing more less government control. we've been fighting for the South alone" calypso sung the harmony to oak. Calypso didn't sing much after that though. some ensemble lines she sung along too with the rest of the ensemble cast. as the song ended she waited for the next song track to come along. she made contact with anthony in the wings
"Lady's and gentlemen you couldve been anywhere in the world today"
calypso started to zone out during the first cabinet battle. she didnt do much during the 2nd part of the show, except for sing the defacto, we were the ones, we know, Washington on your side, the reynolds pamphlet and if by chance. which was alot to some. not to her though, since she was the harmony to we know, washington on your side and sung tenor for the reynolds pamphlet. her eyes flickered to lin and daveed. singing as rivals like usual. oak whispered something in her ear, making her roll her eyes. anthony rolled his shoulders, watching calypso intently. the casual rip of the bottom half of her dress, made the theatre go in shock. again , the transitions into if by chance were absolutely beautiful.
"and if by chance you get them votes which he wont by the way, he's just lucky"
and if she was the tainted rose in the middle of all the regular ones.
