We walked in the classroom together and everyone stared at us. "Rashaud got a girlfriend." One girl said sarcastically. "She gunna tongue kiss him through his gap." Another boy said. Everyone laughs except for Lexi. "Dont listen to them." She said to me.

We sat down. "Today we are going to learn about mammals." Ms. Andrews says to the class. "Who can tell me some mammals?" "Rashaud is a mammal. He's what we call a gapopotamus!" This kid blurts out. " No he's a gaposaurs rex!" Another kid says. Everyone is rolling out of there chair laughing.

"Leave him alone! I know your fat face aint talking. Looking like my momma's ass crack. And you with that long ass neck looking like candice from phineas and ferb!" Lexi said yelling across the room.

"Lexi! Out of my classroom! The first day at our school and you want to use fowl language!" Ms andrews yelled. She don't be saying that to the other kids though.

Lexi took her backpack and walked out the classroom. I never had someone stood up for me before. I never thought it would be a girl. She's different, I know it.

The bell rung and it was finally time to go home. I saw Lexi waiting outside the classroom. "I'm sorry about what happened in there." I said to her. "Oh it's nothing, but you really shouldn't let those kids tease you like that." She said back. I nodded in agreement. "Wanna walk me home?" She asked. "Sure." I responded.

Lexi and I started to walk home. Turns out she just moved here from New Jersey and she lives around the block from me. She an only child and her moms dead. She moved here to live with her Dad. She likes music and food. She plays volleyball to. Yes I found all that out on our walk home.

We finally made it to her house. She gave me a big hug. I never got a hug from a girl before. "See you tomorrow." She said while waving at me with that big smile again. "See ya." I say back to her as she walks in the house.

"Wait, here's my number. You should call me sometime. " she said handing me a paper with her number on it. "Okay." I said with a smile. I stopped smiling real quick, I didn't want her to see my big gap.

" Alright I gotta go now. Don't forget to call me." She said and then walked in her house. I walked back home feeling happy as hell. A girl never gave me her number before. Shes the only person who sees me as more than a GapTooth nigga. It was a good feeling being treated normal.
