"I don't know"

I decided to go out with my friends that night. We went to the usual, Bazar Bar, they made the nice drinks. I was about to sit at my table when I noticed a familiar face at the bar counter. I don't know what I was thinking, what I was doing but I felt myself rise from my chair and walk over to the man in baggy pants.

"Robert is it?" I asked

He looked me straight in the eyes.

"I work at the doctors, in reception."

He stared for a second then grunted and turned his head back to the bartender without acknowledging me at all.

"Very talkative," I muttered, "Anyway, I was wondering if you had seen my other walkie talkie I had 2 and now I only have one, well obviously I only have one because like I said I've just lost one and that's why I'm asking you and..." I was rambling on and he wasn't even listening, I sighed and walked away.

Of course, he hasn't seen it, must just be Betty in admin who took it, I thought to myself and walked away.

I sat back down at the table with my four friends, but my mind was somewhere else.

Bella looked at me a smirked. Bella had long blonde hair and a perfect figure, she would dress in pretty dresses and was definitely the barbie of the group.

"Soo", she began saying "Who's that."

"Who's who," I asked

"The guy at the bar, you idiot", Tracey rolled her eyes. She was in her usual anything black I can find attire and had her usual sarcastic tone.

"Are you gonna introduce us or are you gonna pretend you aren't thinking about him." Lacey smiled in her sweet voice; she was the nicest soul but ALWAYS got her own way.

"Suppose you want to know too," I looked at Drake

"Not arsed," he muttered looking at the ground.

Drake is Lacey's husband, they're complete opposites but they've been married for 2 years and have a little girl, Delilah, so they must like each other. Unfortunately, Delilah is more drake than Lacey but she's only 10 so she might grow out of it.

I've always wanted children, all my life but I've never found anyone to have them with and I don't want to raise one alone, I already have enough on my plate without adoption and having a child alone. I'm 37 in 3 months and I feel like I may never have a chance of a child, not the way I'm going.

I look up and realized I've zoned out.

"Soooooo," Tracey prompted

"He's no one," I replied, "I've never even spoken to him, he was in the waiting room and I've lost my walkie talkie, I was seeing if he knew where it was."

"And does he," Bella looked up straight into my eyes

"I don't know," I smiled losing eye contact with her and looking over to were he sat at the bar, "I have no idea."

All 4 of them looked at me suspiciously but I just shrugged.
