chapter 1 - rival

"its 6am. i need to wake up." i said before i left my bed. the floor was so cold, i shouldnt sleep with the window open anymore. i went straight to the bathroom to take a quick shower.

i got out of the shower and checked my phone for the time. it was already turning 7am.

"shit, i need to hurry up. i have to be there at 8." i mumbled underneath my breath. i lived pretty far away from my company. i couldnt be late for this, this was too important.

i did my makeup, my hair, put on my tight suit and quickly sprayed some perfume on before heading out. my suit was sitting tightly on my body. the weather outside was cold, the sky was grey, the rain was pouring.

i turned on the engine to my car and started driving. after driving a while, i took a deep sigh. realizing that im living the same day over and over again. nothing new ever happens to me. nothing exciting ever occurs. im earning all this money, but i have no one to spend it with. i live in this big apartment, but i have no one to share it with. i am one of the most successful woman in this country, but how could i ever be happy when i have no one in my life?

i soon enough arrived to my company. i entered through the main doors, strut walking to the meeting room with my hair up. i was holding my small suitcase with all my paperwork. i looked around, smiling to my workers.

"im sorry for running a little late." i said, entering the meeting room. i greeted everyone who was there.

of course i was late to my own meeting. im always precise with time until its something important. i smiled at kiyoko who was standing there disappointed. she was my assistant.

"nice to meet you, y/n." said one of them. i nodded before i turned on my presentation. i couldnt help but to scan the people in the room. i recognized one of the men. he had black slick hair, ocean blue eyes with an elegant all black suit. he was so focused on his notes, only looking up at the presentation and his paperworks. where had i seen him before? i didnt think much of it, and continued to finish off my presentation.

"thank you all for attending this meeting. im glad you guys want to cooperate with me." i smiled as they went out the room. i walked over to kiyoko as everyone had left.

"hey, who was that one guy in that black suit?" i asked kiyoko who was looking through my paperwork.

"you dont remember him?" she looked up at me confused.

"ive met him before? maybe thats why i recognized him. who is he?" i asked again.

"he is your rival, y/n. he is the main leader of ZLM. he and his company are our enemies." she explained.

"i cant believe youve already forgotton him." she continued.

it had been a long time since we last interacted with his company. after last time, neither of the companies contacted each other. he looked more- mature now. no wonder i didnt remember him.

"oi, you told me this meeting was important, but not that important. i should have been more prepared." i panicked, going through my presentation again.

"take it easy, y/n. they all saw you how you are at work. its good they see how you normally are. it shows that you can be a natural leader. once the two companies merge together, there will have to be a leader. if you can prove that already now, youre on a good note with both of the bosses."

"god, what would i do without you kiyoko. thank you, seriously. but- ill go up to my office yet again. i still have a lot of things to do." i began packing all my stuff before heading up to my office. my office was at the top of the building, so i waited for the elevator while making a few calls. the elevator door opened, and i walked in before looking. i suddenly bumped into someone.

"oh, are you okay?" someone said.

"yeah im- fine." i looked up, seeing him right in front of me. i couldnt believe i had bumped into him. what was happening to me?

"hey, y/n. your meeting was interesting. thank you for the invite." he said, smirking. i always hated how cocky he was. his every sentence was always screaming: "keep trying, but ill still be better than you in the end." hes acting as if it was me who invited him. everything he said to me was total sarcasm.

"hey uh- who are you again?" i tilted my head. i didnt remember his name, but i played it off by acting sarcastic.

"forgotten me already? ill introduce myself for you again. hello, im kageyama tobio. nice to meet you l/n y/n." he put his hand in front of himself, waiting for me to shake it.

"aww youre so sweet, but i really need to get going. spending my time on such worthless things is useless isnt it?" i said sarcastically before i hurried into the elevator, leaving kageyama hanging. the doors closed as he turned around. he smirked while walking away with his hands in his pockets. i rolled my eyes before i regained myself again.

i finally got up to my office, throwing all my stuff on the seating area by the large windows. i went up to my desk where i saw a note.

"to l/n.
i invite you to my meeting next friday. since our companies will be merging in the future, it will be good to keep close contact. bring some of your workers to the meeting. -sincerely, kageyama tobio."

this is why he went down the elevator. how come i didnt think about this when i bumped into him? i called kiyoko up to my office.

"check off a meeting on my calendar on friday next week. kageyama invited me." i said, holding his note in my hand.

"finally the two companies are in contact again. it was about time. we need to figure out a reasonable plan with them, even though theyre our rivals." she nodded to herself, reading the note.

"i still dont want to. everything about him makes me mad. i cant stand his cocky personality. hes so full of himself." i ranted to kiyoko.

"dont act like you arent, y/n. i would say you are just as cocky as he is." she laughed.

"shut up before i fire you." i jokingly said back, laughing.

the rest of the day went by pretty fast. i finished a lot of my paperworks, and started preparing for my next meeting. i was already on my way home by 10pm. which was really early considering all the work i had. 

as soon as i got home i threw away my clothes and went to bed. kageyama had ruined my whole day. if only i had known that he was attending my meeting today. why was he getting on my nerves this much? i couldnt stop thinking about him and how i bumped into him earlier today.

GAAAAH IVE HAD THIS STORY IDEA IN MY HEAD FOR A LONG TIME, I JUST NEVER HAD MOTIVATION TO WRITE UNTIL TODAY

I NEVER PREPARE FOR THE STORIES I WRITE SO THIS IS SOLELY BASED OFF IMAGINATION AND IMPROVISING

THEREFOR I HAVE NO CLUE HOW MANY PARTS THIS STORY WILL HAVE
