* June 5th, 1999 - Ministry*

"Please, Minister. Only 5 years, that's all I ask of you," Hermione pleaded.

The minister scoffed as he stared at her, "I don't know what you think I run here Ms. Granger but it's not a bloody watch show."

"Minister, please. He is capable of so much, let him show you how smart he is and how much he could add to the min-"

The Minister silenced her with a loud bang from his wand. The entire room fell silent as all eyes laid upon him.

"I need to discuss with the rest. We will come back in 20 minutes," he announced, standing up from his chair.

Hermione took a deep breath before running over to the accused. "Are you-"

"I'm fine, Hermione leave it. They aren't going to fucking believe anything, all they see is the boy who-"

Hermione silenced him by a sharp shake of her head, refusing her tears to show. "No, Draco. I promised you that day that I will do everything I can to get you out of this mess. You're innocent and if I have to wait years, so be it," Hermione snapped.

Draco looked at the woman in front of him, he knew that he would most likely lose her. He wanted to reach out and hold her. Kiss her. Fuck her.

But he couldn't.

"Your friends are waiting, you should-"

"Shut up for once, please. Just, let me enjoy this," Hermione snapped, her eyes becoming blurry.

Draco hated seeing the woman he loves cry, ever. He did as she said, knowing she needs this in case anything happens.

Twenty long minutes go by before the minister takes his seat once more. Hermione walks back to where she once was and stood politely.

"We've made a decision!" He announced, sending a thousand unwanted butterflies in both Hermione and Draco's stomach.

The minister cleared his throat before sitting up straight. "Draco Lucius Malfoy! We are giving you THREE YEARS to find love in the muggle world. No magic!" He announced.

Hermione relaxed her shoulders as she knew this was an easy challenge - they were already-

"However, we will be obliviating your memories," the minister added.

The room fell silent, Hermione's smile turned into an unreadable expression and Draco wanted to throw a punch at the minister's jaw.

"You will have no contact with anyone you know and you will have - starting at midnight - three years to find love and prove you're what Ms. Granger says."

"But Minister-"

The minister raised his hand, "I am not done, Ms. Granger." He cleared his throat, "Hermione Jean Granger! Your memories will also be obliviated for THREE YEARS. You can carry on with normal life."

Hermione blinked as the minister spoke. "Excuse me? Minister, how is that going to prove anything? The whole point was-"

"You, Ms. Granger are a clever witch. He needs to find love, love that he's not already in. If Mr. Malfoy fails, he will be sentenced to life imprisonment," the minister added.

Hermione couldn't help but let a tear stroll down her face but she quickly wiped it before anyone could see her.

"However, if he succeeds, all charges will be dropped. Both of your memories will be taken tonight and Mr. Malfoy, your journey begins at midnight. Good luck," the minister finished with a clap of his hands.

Hermione froze as she watched the minister walk out of the room. She was about to lose her memory of Draco, Harry, Ron even Ginny.

Everyone.

But she had no choice. She'd give up everything if it meant he wouldn't be stuck in Azkaban for life.

"Hermione! You're not serious, are you?" Ginny asked, snapping Hermione out of her thoughts.

Harry, Ron and Ginny all stood in front of her. Harry and Ron had uneasy looks and a 3 month pregnant Ginny was stressed.

"I have no choice. You'd do it for Harry if it was the other way around," Hermione sighed, frowning.

Ginny didn't say anything, she knew she was right. She would give up everything and anything for Harry.

"But Hermione, you won't remember any of us," Ron said, stating the obvious.

Hermione knew that. She did. "I won't remember our memories but that doesn't mean I can't be friends with you all. It's only three years," she said, trying to ease her friends.

"I don't like this," Harry mumbled.

"Neither do I!" Ginny and Ron simultaneously stated.

Hermione looked behind her to see Draco already been taken back - a part of her missing already.

"He's been stuck in here for over a year. I can change his life, he will find love. Even if it won't be with me, he will find it. And when he does, he will remember. He will remember me," she sighed, trying to help herself.

Ginny pulled Hermione into a well-needed hug. "I hate this so much but I support you, you know that," Ginny said.

"Let's go, one more outing before Hermione Jean Granger is a goner," Ron interpreted, lightening the mood.

"Ron!" Ginny and Harry yelled, Ginny smacking her brother.
