A War At Home

The door opened & Kevin Thomspon stood behind it, the look of horror came off Kevin's face as he saw Michelle, but he quickly composed himself.

"What can I help you journalists for", Kevin asked as he welcomed them into his house.

"We came to interview you on the attempt of burning your house down", Ned said, he guarded Michelle by standing in front of her.

"That news hasn't been made public yet", Kevin said as he looked at the two mysteriously.

Ned froze, he didn't know how to respond.

"A leaked documentation between your contractor & your carpenters was left on my desk this morning", Michelle said, finally speaking up.

"Well, you may ask anything you want", Kevin walked them to the living room & sat down on a velvet chair. Michelle & Ned also sat down across from the man.

"The offender was found brutally beaten two days after your home caught fire, is this a coincidence", Michelle asked? She aimed for the harder questions, she wasn't interested in working her way, she was on a mission & no one was going to stop her.

"It's Hell's Kitchen, hardly any man can walk down the streets without being mugged at least once", Kevin responded with a smirk on his lips, his legs crossed over one another.

"The offender was found beaten in his home & it's no secret that people that cross your path go missing sooner or later", Michelle started to pry.

"Michelle", Ned said through gritted teeth. Kevin's smile dropped as a despicable & worried look came upon his face.

"Reva Conners, Bob & Barbra Shlottman, Ruben... all of these people have come across your path", Michelle's voice started to raise. "And you tried to have me killed, by officer Darren, after I went to him in the Night Spider case. So can you tell me why"?

"I have no idea what you are talking about, no man can physically make another do something", Kevin played dumb. "But, if you ask me, it seems like this Officer Darren attacked you because he didn't want you to know something that you shouldn't have".

"Except, it's pretty commonly known that you can mind control people, so would you like to comment on that", Michelle asked? Kevin was dumbfounded, he was at a loss for words. "So I have two theories; one, that you are controlling people to off your enemies & possibly a hero with powers like Spider-man... & my other second is . . .".

Kevin interrupted.

"Get out of my home & speak of this, never", Kevin said. The stories were true. Ned & Michelle were compelled to stand up & they started walking to the door. They were zombie-like, only doing what he demanded while completely emotionless.

Kevin followed them to the door, but Michelle stopped at the door & tugged at Ned's sleeve.

She blinked a few times & as if life came back to her, she had to say, "So I was, where is Night Spider, he has something of my friends".

"Pardon me", Kevin asked? Kevin reached for his phone.

"Michelle, we should get leaving", Ned said in a monotone voice. He tugged back on Michelle's sleeves.

The realism of the moment hit Michelle like a bus, Michelle quickly walked out of the house with Ned.

Michelle looked back at Kevin as she walked out the door, she saw her name form from his lips.

"Ned, run", Michelle said.

Ned was now out of control since he did what Kevin wanted, Ned & Michelle started to run from the mansion & away.
