"We have to go," Cole bursts through the door of our room. "Grab everything you need as fast as you can."
"What's going on?" Morgan exclaims, jumping up from the bed.
It's only been a few hours since they rescued us, we shouldn't have to leave already.
"They know we're gone," I state knowingly.
"Already?" Morgan's eyes widened with fear.
"We need to get out of here as fast as we can. It isn't safe here anymore," Cole tells us, throwing a duffle bag onto the bed. "Put everything in here. Take only essential items."
Morgan begins throwing the few clothes Wyatt gave us after we finished eating in the bag. She also tosses in toothbrushes, toothpaste, and stuffs a small blanket inside as well.
"How do they even know about this place?" I ask Cole.
Noah and Wyatt told me this cabin was off the radar; that no vampires besides them know about its existence. So why is Cole rushing to get us out of here now?
"They don't, but word got out about you two escaping and Cassius went into a blind rage. He wants you back and will do anything to get what he wants. We have to keep moving to be safe."
"Does he want us?" I ask quietly. "Or does he want me?"
Cole halts zipping the duffle bag halfway and looks up at me with an intense look in his eyes. "He wants you, Sadie."
What is so special about me that a vampire, who has an endless supply of human blood, will go into a frenzy just to get me back? Something about my blood is different from others. Cassius and Silas both said my blood tasted interesting. There has to be something wrong with me or with my blood.
Glancing at Morgan, I take in the fear glazing her eyes and her gaunt face and guilt floods my veins. She wouldn't have to run right now if it weren't for me and my blood. She could go home and be with her family without worrying about vampire psychopaths coming after her. She could go back to a normal life and forget this ever happened.
"Sadie," Morgan storms up to me with a fierce glare, "I know that look in your eyes. Stop feeling guilty. This is not your fault."
"But it is," I stop her. "If it weren't for me you could go home."
"We wouldn't be here if it weren't for me," she shouts. "They took me first. You found me. You saved me!"
Staring at her with my eyes wide open, I blink in shock. Morgan does not yell. She's too laid back and mellow to yell and she has never yelled at me before. She really doesn't blame me for this. She blames herself just as I blame myself.
Stepping forward, I grip her into a hug. "Together; we're in this together."
"Like super hot soulmates," she says.
A laugh bursts out of me without thought. "Way to ruin the moment."
"What is going on here?" Noah asks, leaning into the doorway. His eyes scan Morgan and I whilst Cole stands there watching us and he rolls his eyes. "Hurry up. We don't have much time."
"Jackass," I mutter, releasing Morgan.
He turns back, "What was that?"
Right. Vampire hearing.
Cole covers a smirk with a forced cough. Noah doesn't stay to hear my response; not that I knew what to say anyway. I just keep making things worse. First he heard me talking with Morgan and now he heard me call him a jackass.
