Gasping in shock, I stare wide-eyed at Noah. "I... I wasn't..."
Noah tugs me around the side of the cabin to the front door. "If Wyatt hasn't explained it to you already, we're trying to help."
"But you're vampires!"
Before I can blink, my body is slammed against the side of the house and Noah gets in my face, his nose practically touching mine. "We may be monsters by nature, but there are worse things out there than me and Wyatt. You should count yourself lucky that I found you and not one of them."
"Who are they?"
Instead of answering me, Noah shifts his face so his nose brushes against my jaw and he inhales deeply. "What is it with you?"
"What does that mean?" I whisper, too afraid to speak any louder.
Suddenly the door is thrown open and Wyatt steps out. "Trying to escape already?"
Noah pulls away sharply and glares at him, "why didn't you stop her?"
"I heard you pull up, figured you had it handled," he shrugs a shoulder.
I gape at Wyatt, "you knew?"
He taps his ear, "you aren't as quiet as you thought."
"What have you told her?" Noah asks Wyatt.
"Not much," he responds. "She said she was tired."
Noah lets go of my arm and instead guides me with a hand on my back into the cabin. "Sit down."
I huff but do as he says. I honestly don't know if I should be scared or annoyed by them ordering me around so much. Maybe now that Noah is here I can finally get some answers. Wyatt did say Noah was taking care of it when I asked where Morgan was.
"Can one of you please tell me what's going on?" I demand.
Wyatt sighs, "I already told you we aren't going to hurt you."
"I know that, but what am I doing here exactly?"
"You know too much," Noah states, leaning against the countertop in the kitchen. "You'd look for your friend and get yourself killed."
"You don't know that!"
"They would kill you before you got even ten feet in front of Morgan," Noah glares.
"Listen," Wyatt begins, coming to stand in front of me. "It's Sadie, right?"
I nod.
"Noah's family is dangerous. They're bad people."
"What?" My mouth drops open, "those monsters are your family?"
"No," he grunts. "They're my clan, not my family."
"What's the difference?"
"It's a long story."
I shake my head. I don't even care. All I want is to get Morgan back alive. Who knows what they could be doing to her right now.
"Oh my god," I gasp. "Are they going to kill her?"
Wyatt and Noah exchange a look and unease fills my stomach.
"They won't kill her," Wyatt hesitates. "They're going to sell her."
My eyes just about pop out of my skull. "What!"
"We can get Morgan back, but it's going to take some time," Noah holds his hands up as if in surrender.
Why do they want to help me? Shouldn't they be the ones killing humans, not helping them escape?
