Rosalyn sat on a cliff, feet dangling above the grass below, watching over Liyue. The lanterns were being released tonight, and this tradition of releasing lanterns made her heart, ache. It seemed so familiar, yet so... foreign.

Xiao, the remaining Yaksha, sat behind her, his spear in his hand as he looked over her shoulder at the land below them. "What are you thinking about?" Xiao asked, leaning on her shoulder, sharpening his weapon.

"Returning to Mondstadt! Jean gave me a week's day off, and it was more than enough, but I was lucky for it to be on the Lantern Rite." She tapped at the crest that rested on her thigh, next to her dagger. "Klee said she had a surprise waiting for me. Lumine must have finished all her commissions by now, so we'll be leaving tomorrow morning."

"Are you ever going to return?" He asked, his head turned sideways in a form of curiosity.

"Yup! Next month, just in time for Rex Lapis to ascend from the skies." She hopped up, readjusting her pouch, "Come on, let's get going, to retrieve our lanterns."

Xiao disappeared in a green flash, carrying Rosalyn down with him (Don't forget, Rosalyn is about Klee's age).

"LUMINE!" Running up to the older girl, Rosalyn leaped onto Lumine, who was checking out her commissions with Katheryne. "Come on! Paimon's bringing all of our lanterns from Wangshu Inn to Bubu Pharmacy."

Xiao flashed away after a quick wave to Lumine, appearing next to Paimon, scaring the poor fairy out of her wits. "AHH! XIAO!" She squealed, nearly dropping the stack of 3 lanterns. "STOP SCARING ME." Pouting, Paimon continued her way, sticking out her small foot as she passed Xiao.

It was the night, the lanterns were floating in the air, carrying the people's wishes, its light being seen as far away as Dragonspine, which on the Skyward Nail, sat Albedo and Sucrose, watching the wave of lanterns floating from the distant nation.

On Lumine's lantern, sat the wish, 'To be reunited,' and on Xiao's was a simple story about a rabbit family, which was told to him by Hu Tao every single day. On Rosalyn's, were the words, 'Will reunite with,' and a small drawing of a dragon's and wolf's shadow next to it.

As they rose high in the air, they got mixed with the rest of Liyue's lanterns. The blue and gold stag standing on the large platform in front of them started to light up, and to the amazement of the two travelers, it started to step up, running towards the sky before bursting into beautiful fireworks.

Rosalyn finally realized what made it so familiar, it was the New Year tradition of her friend's home. "There will always be those, who remember the most treasured tradition."

Watching the yellow lighted lights float upwards into the night sky, tears formed in her eyes.

Rosalyn, back in her original age of 17, was sitting on a stool, leaning across a hospital bed, which contained one of her friends, Soph. Tears dropped uncontrollably onto the blanket. 'Rosalyn? Remember when I told you about my family tradition?' Nodding, the girl lifted her head. 'When I leave this world, can I trust on you to pass down the tradition?'

Rosalyn nodded again, closing her eyes, tears spilling from the side of them. 'Yes, I promise.' Holding the bandaged hand of her friend, she muttered something beneath her breath. A gust of wind spiraled around the two, before compacting and releasing.

Opening her eyes, she patted Soph one more time, before sliding off the stool and heading outside, looking back at her friends, her golden eyes connecting with her green ones. 'See you tomorrow?'

'Yes,' the bedridden girl smiled, her eyes betraying her happy face.

But they never saw each other again. When she came back to visit her friend, the doctors and nurses refused her simple request, to see her friend. For she had passed away that past night.

Rosalyn's hand reached to a thin chain around her neck, charms jingling around it. Closing her eyes, she breathed in and relaxed her hand. A new charm joined the 7 others, a charm of a butterfly.

Surveying the hospital doors in front of her, she looked back, before stepping outside. Rosalyn didn't look back as she ran away from the hospital, tumbling over rocks and into the forest nearby the building. Tears came running down her cheeks, spilling onto the forest floor. 'You promised,' crying, the girl reached a small stream and jumped onto a rock, sitting down on it.

Her demeanor broke down as she buried her face in her hands. The charm clanked against the others, its plastic outside holding the precious memory inside. Looking up at the tree-covered sky, Rosalyn closed her eyes and let the wind carry her mind.

"Rosalyn? You okay?" Lumine looked at the younger girl, her face filled with worry as she tried to wake up Rosalyn, who had fallen asleep while reminiscing the memory.

"I'm fine."

I wrote half of this during a test so uh...
