Chapter Five
Beomgyu frantically ran across the room, throwing the last bit of rose petals he held onto the floor. His eyes were wild, and when he finally paused (to breathe) he could feel his fingers shaking against each other.
He examined the area around him, for what seemed like the nth time, before concluding something to be wrong again.
There's too many petals there. That one candle isn't lit. Are the flowers too much??
Beomgyu wanted to crawl into a hole and die knowing Soobin would be coming along too. What if they both silently judged him the entire encounter?
Just as regret began to pile up in the back of Beomgyu's head, he practically jumped upon hearing laughter outside of the door in front of him.
"Beomgyu?" Yeonjun's sweet voice echoed through the door, and no matter how much it usually made Beomgyu's heart flutter, his nervousness only managed to increase at the sound of it.
The call was quickly followed by a gentle knock on the door, and Beomgyu barely choked out a reply, "y-yeah. It's unlocked."
The knob turned, and the boy struggled to find a proper standing position as it opened up. He wasn't sure what to expect, or what kind of reaction to receive, as he awkwardly stood by the decorative scene.
If Yeonjun were to reject him, he wasn't sure if their relationship would always be in crumbs or not, but he hoped that the boy would at least let him down slowly.
Beomgyu's heart sank to the floor when instead of Yeonjun, his eyes laid onto Soobin's. God, was it the worst feeling.
"Beomgyu what's this?"
"Being in love is like falling into a blissful sleep. It happens slowly, then suddenly you find yourself asleep. You find yourself never wanting to wake up again."
"What do you mean-"
"Falling for you was just like that... I still don't want to wake up and I hope I never have to. I hope with all my heart that this is a reality. I hope you're not a dream, but that you're the guy of my dreams in real life." Beomgyu flushed at his own words, his voice as quiet and soft as a whisper.
"I hope you don't fade away, but that you stay with me forever."
"Beomgyu..."
"I know! That was really cheesy but it's true," he cried, throwing his hands against his hot cheeks.
"That's not what I mean. That was so cute but I..." Yeonjun paused and stared at the boy standing next to him, "I like Soobin, and... I don't think I could love anyone else."
Beomgyu could hear his heart shatter into pieces at the confession, only sheepishly stand across the pair. He could feel tears begin to prick the corners of his eyes, as his gaze turned towards the floor.
"O-oh..." The moment he finally choked out the words, Beomgyu let his tears fall. They hit the floor in what seemed like slow motion, and the moment they did, Soobin spoke up.
"D-don't cry Beomgyu," Soobin said, reaching a hand out. It wasn't until then that Beomgyu noticed how quiet the leader had been the entire encounter.
His grip on Beomgyu's shoulder was gentle, but the moment the younger felt it, he shoved himself away. "I-I'll leave."
Before either of the others could protest, Beomgyu was bolting out the door, barely holding back a sob. The tears wouldn't stop coming, and he needed to leave before he embarrassed himself even further.
