This is me

How do you explain the unexplainable? From the beginning I suppose. But how do you start it? Well now that's harder. I'll start it with my birth I guess. I was born to a wealthy ordinary family. And as cliche as it is, I wasn't ordinary. At least, not to their terms, I wasn't. The gift my family had, it was strong with me, it had a wispy form, I could control it. They said I was one of the defective, something that happens often 'sadly'. Basically, I went bad, like moldy bread. And what do you do with moldy bread? You throw it out. I was tost out at the age of four, given two choices. Die or survive. I guess you can tell which I choose, seeing as I'm talking to you now.

Let's skip a few years, now I'm 7 and can control it perfectly, meeting some other defectives, and learned all I could from them before they had to leave. Bondeds, riders, handlers, so many things in a world hidden within a world that's hidden within that world. With what I learned I made my own spells, my own potions, my own everything. A few years later, I had just turned 10 that's about the time I first met Retou. I was in the marketplace in China, one of the places I stayed in the longest, and had gotten cornered by some thugs that thought they were powerful, magic swirling between their fingers as they asked what I was doing all by my lonesome. I told them some sort of lie, not a very creative one, and went to walk away. The man that let me stay with him and his wife said I can't always fight, can't depend on my magic to get me out of everything. But when the biggest grabbed me I flared, literally. My magic surrounded me, flickering like the burning angry fire I felt within my very soul, the color an odd dark red wine, flakes of grey, blinding white and midnight black mixed within the flames. I took notice of the added colors, admiring how the white and black mixed so well with the dark color that wasn't mine. My magic was a light cherry red, ruby red when mad, not this... wine color. They looked impressed, a little frightened if you looked close enough, then suddenly they were terrified, paler than snow, eyes so wide I thought they'd roll from the mens skulls.

Swoosh!

I suddenly found myself being swooped up, thrown, and landing on the back of something large and scaly. I know you know what it is. Say it with me.
A.
Freakin.
Dragon.

I didn't see the 10 years of my life flash before my eyes, no. I saw red and gold, and for a brief moment I saw eyes that held the very sun in them. I sat on the back of this animal and froze. I thought, and then...? I jumped.

I heard him yelp, in confusion or surprise, I'll probably never know. I opened a gate/door as I fell and with a thud I summersaluted onto hard ground. I got up, brushed myself off and began to walk away. I'll never know what possessed me to look up, and I've never really questioned it, but when I looked up I saw a net, spinning, spinning spinning, up, up, up. And then down down down he went, plummeting to the earth. I could feel the ground shake with his impact and my heart did something its never done before. It jumped into my throat and fear sank into my bones, flowed through my veins. If you ever asked, "did you run over? Open a gate to get there faster? Were you scared?" I'd say no. I'd say I was angry. I'd tell them I only say red. But the truth? The truth is I did run, I jumped off a cliff and opened a gate to down below, I let my magic take its fiery form and ingolf all those who dare target him, I made them feel my fear, made them fear me, a 10 year old girl, smaller then all the others her age. I made them feel fear, I made sure they knew what fear was.

When they ran from me I started to cut through the ropes and assessed the damage. Rope burns, scales missing, cuts, but no broken bones, thankfully. Pulling out pasts and balms from my Alternative Dimension Storage, basically unlimited storage that I can access at any time, and walked up to his side, immediately applying the healing balm, and getting growled at for it.
"Get over it! The only reason I'm doing this is because you got me out of that corner."
A mushroom cloud of smoke was blown my way and I bent over, coughing and giggling. I finished applying and sat down, watching as the wounds stitched itself back together, no evidence it was ever even there in the first place.
