Pt.3

I will make the doves pay for what they did, what they've taken from me. I drove on the rumble of the car on the uneven road made me sick, but I drove on into the night. I pulled the car to a stop in front of a familiar old house, I locked up my car and crept up the driveway and peered into the window, the house was empty except for a recliner facing away from me, the tv flashing loudly in the background, I slowly turned the door handle making sure to keep a eye on whoever was sitting in that chair, the door opened with ease and I slid into the warm house, I took a step out of the doorway and a loud squeal came from the floorboards beneath me, the man stood up and turned around quickly a pistol pointed right at my head, "now I suggest you go ahead and walk yourself out that there door and skedaddle back to whatever shit hole you crawled out of" his deep torn voice almost made me jump, I shakily turned around my hands up, "turner?" I asked and his eyes squinted together as he tried to think, "its me, Harley?" I referenced to myself, his eyes widened, "your dead! Your supposed to be dead!" he backed up a bit like I was a ghost, his breathing intensified as he held the gun with both hands never taking his finger off the trigger, "please, I need a favor" I could feel the sweat drain down my face, my breath making the mask heat up like a microwave, "take that thing of" I could hear his breathing become scattered, "take that fucking thing off!" he yelled and I obeyed, I removed Akira's mask from my sweaty face, he dropped the gun and ran over to hug me, the embrace made me tense up, he pulled away, "where in hell have you been?!"his exasperated face made me feel bad for the guy as I placed the mask back on my face, "I'm sorry but I can't answer that, for mine and your safety, but I need you help" he gave me a look that I had seen a hundred times whenever I needed something, "I need some money and I need you to watch over my mom for me, she has a special item in her house that need protecting" I watched as he thought long and hard about what I had just said, "I will do it on the one condition," I nodded excitedly, "anything" he looked me deep in the eye, "you buy drinks next time we see each other" his stern face quickly turned into a friendly smile, I agreed knowing I wouldn't be able to do that where I was going.

I was sent out the door a small brown paper bag filled with cash, I started up my car and drove away leaving my past, in the past. I drove on to the same airport I had used to go to japan, I parked the car and sat there for a second, I took a deep breath and smelled the aroma of what used to be, I could still smell her, her sweet scent lingered as I got out and closed the door for the final time, I looked off into the wide open area filled with tall yellow grass, the moon grew big illuminating the small yellow stalks, I threw the old keys to the car as far as I could hoping for them never to be found. I walked away removing the mask from my face and placing it in my backpack, I entered the large almost empty airport and used a kiosk to buy a ticket straight to japan, it wasn't set to leave for another 6 hours so I sat down and tried to sleep, the tired embrace quickly found me, and I could feel my body slump over into a deep slumber.

The sky was the brightest blue I had ever seen, the soft rock of the chair I sat in made me smile, the door behind me opened and Akira walked through the sincere smile on her face as she looked at our beautiful daughter was comforting as she sat down in the chair next to me and rested her head on my shoulder, I stroked her hair softly but quickly pulled away the red smear left on my hand freaked me out, I looked over and she was gone nothing left of her. I jumped awake and held my head, my heavy breathing seemed to never stop, I needed a distraction from my own thoughts, I checked the time, 30 minutes till boarding, I looked up at the silent tv the subtitles always a bit off with its wording, the story changed to breaking news, the police had found Akira, lying in her bed, they had labeled it as a murder, I looked away I couldn't watch anymore of their lies, the world around my started to spin and turn a light red as I ran to the bathroom and immediately threw up.

I stood in line waiting to board the 13 hour flight to japan, the people in front of me looked so tired of life as they pulled their child back by his hood for the hundredth time, finally it was my turn, they scanned my ticket and I walked through the doorway into the plane, I always hated planes, the confined spot creeped me out, I carefully made my way to my seat in the back and looked out the window my own reflection looked back at me, I looked like hell, I picked out each little discrepancy in my appearance and added them up in my head to pass the time until I slowly fell back asleep.
