*PROLOGUE*
"We have to hurry to go pick Olga up from school" My mom said and I hoped into the car. We had a driver to take us there. We reached in 15 minutes because the school wasn't so far from home. I got out of the car and spotted Olga's friend, Annie. I walked straight to her.
"Oh hi Valerie" she said
"Hi by any chance do you know where Olga is" I smiled
"I think she is in dorm"
"Thanks" I walked away.
I went to the dorm and saw Olga. I ran straight to her and gave her a big hug.
"Hey Val. Where's Mom"
"She's waiting for you by the car."
On the way to the car we met Annie. And she joined us. Her and Olga were just talking the whole way there. We reached the car and Annie greeted Mom.
"Hi Olga. Val was crying that he missed you" Mom said
"No" I said in embarrassment
"Let's go get your stuff" Mom said
We walked to the dorm and got Olga's bags. I was so glad that Olga was coming home. She always told me about all the drama that used to happen to her. All the boys who liked her and all the girls who hates her because of that. I always looked up to her she was my role model. She was so skinny yet I was so fat. I envied her bit I still loved her. I thought all that drama happened to every girl.There was an outbreak of some weird disease. I expected Olga to come home with a lot of jazz. She came back with the most she could ever have.
*PRESENT*
I guess it wasn't worth anything waiting for all the stuff that happened to Olga happen to me. I waited and now I am sixteen years old. The only friends I have are Melissa and Abril since I found out everyone at school was pretending to be my friend to get all the answers for tests out of me. Daniella, my cousin left a few years ago. She was the only one I had at home. I am apparently still chubby but not that chubby I grew a little bit thinner. I guess Olga used to lie me when she used to say that "Don't worry, similar things will happen to you when you are older than this"
Look at me now I'm 16 and I don't know what to do with my life. I am just a pile of trash. My parents stopped caring about me on my 12th birthday. I hate me I wish I could just get adopted by Abril's mom. She has every thing. A good house, a good mom an she has a fortune. I wonder why she hangs out with me anyway. She has a damn good life. I just wish I was her she is just so damn lucky. Here I am complaining about my life instead of listening to the teacher.
"By the way we are having surprise test tomorrow" the teacher says
" What" I say and stand up
"Is there a problem Valerie" she smiles
"Yes I have to go to the hospital" I say
"And what for"
I had no option I just had to tell everyone. I was tired of keeping it from everyone.
"I have diabetes" I sigh
"Oh I am so sorry this test takes 40% of your grades for the year and there is no retaking tests even if you missed one"
Well I guess my life is more important than my grade. I sit down without saying anything. The bell rang and I got out of class with my bag. I walked home knowing that my father would hit me when I get there for no good reason.
I reach home and go straight to my room. I don't care about greeting anyone. I walk into my room and get my bag and check how much money I have in it. It was enough for me to pay for the hospital.
The next day I go to the hospital and my sugar levels were normal. I know the test is done by now so I just buy and ice cream. I go home and no one is there. I just turn on the T.V and start watching. I get bored so I go to take a nap and I remember all Olga's drama.
I just get out of the house and begin walking while listening to music on my phone. I spotted Derek and walked straight to him.
"Hi" I say
"Hey Val"
"Why aren't you at school" he says
"You mean Olga hasn't told you yet"
"Told me what"
"I have diabetes and I go for check ups every after two weeks"
"I am so sorry"
"It's okay. Does Melissa stay with you"
"No"
"Seriously she's your sister you have to at least let her stay with you"
"I'm kidding." He says
"Well then is she home" I say
"Yeah she didn't go to school today"
"Great" I say and push him out of my way and start jogging to his apartment. I reach and ring the doorbell. Melissa opens it and I hug her.
"Hey Val" she says
"Hi why aren't you at school"
"I don't know. I decided to just skip school. At least you have a reason to be home."
"Yeah" I say
"So let's go watch a movie" she says and we both walk into the living room
We turn on the laptop and start thinking of a movie to watch. "Let's just watch Project Power" she says and we search for it and rent it. "Was your diabetes check okay?" She says
"Yeah it was"
"Where did you get the money from"
"I save"
"Okay"
"Where do you get the money to pay for the movies"
"I use Derek's account" she says
"And he really allows"
"No I always look when he is typing the pin"
"Sneaky"
"Let's just watch the movie" she hits me playfully
We finish watching the movie and I go back home. The first thing I see is the devil himself. My fucking father.
